Bob,
My bad, I thought this was a reasonable discussion. If I'd know it was a 99 L lovefest I wouldn't have disturbed you. I'm done with this.
The originator of this post asked a simple queston, in which it was replyed that the >01's make 20 more hp. Which in fact is kind of true if you life in this fantasia called everyone run's stock in the land of Lightnings?

To top this whole hullabaloo off it's going to cost an extra ~$10,000 because people aren't shooting straght with the guy. Tripe such as better suspension? Well it's going to cost me $200 for Bilstein and it's going to cost 02 owner $200 for herbs washers, cams, an a alignment. Are you seeing the point?

I guess in reality it's 1 99 L lovefest vs 20 2002 overpaid lovefest

the guy said nothing about modded trucks.
contrary to popular belief, some people like to leave their vehicles alone.. you cant judge the whole population of lightning owners just by reading this board.
some people just like them the way they are stock..
it's america. get over the fact that you cant force your opinions and beliefs on other people.

and in fact, the 01-02 lightnings have 20 more hp stock..
of course, these numbers only apply on earth, so your results may vary depending on what planet you're from...

How much will that ~20hp ~10tq different make in 1/4 times? I actually found this post really informing. Im looking at a lightning in the future, a brand new one would be nice but withmoney issue i think buying a use one would be better for me. I mean I could save 5k alone, and start modding it out sooner.

I've seen unmodded 99 L's run a 13.7 stock,, but i've also seen an 01L run a 13.4 stock both on the exact same track day. Any year is a good truck, i prefer the 01's look a little better but thats just my own opinion. I chose to buy a new one because most of these trucks used have been driven hard, very hard, especially if chipped already, who knows how many times your used L has been to the track. I'm not one to complain about a truck being broken in like this, but lets face it, i feel much more comfortable doing the breaking in on my own. And if you find an L out there which was not driven hard, the owner was doing himself an injustice,,, you dont buy 380 horses just so you can drive like a granny, you buy that kind of power so you can get there, and you can have fun doing so, not so you can save on gas money and cry about people flashing their lights at you cause you are driving 50 in the left lane of I-75. i dont regret buying a new one at all, as a matter of fact, ,,, I love the clunk, i've had it on my truck for a small while now and i sorta like the way it sounds to my ears. The clunk rules
