Where is the Rice?
ah yes... the freedoms of the 1st amendment and internet...
poor taste pic? yes, but by being on a public board, it's part of the game my friends...
Yes, I laughed the first time I saw it 3 months ago...
perhaps, however, if something as simple as that really steams you, avoiding the internet all-together might be the answer. There are many nasty offensive things out here...
Terry, you have a right to post a complaint, just as wrongdayj can post the pics... that is unless of course Doug steps up to the plate and decides differently...
So... post, and complain away.... Gosh I love the US/Internet...
Just my thoughts...

You know Beefcake, you're absolutely right when it comes to a decision on whether to complain or not. I for one did, and you're right it's a God-given American Right for anyone to post anything they wish. And you're right that some folks may be extremely sensitive to some subject matter. I guess that's why America is as great as it is. As a member of the United States Air Force for 23 years (and still active duty) I have stood for everything it stands for and more. But posting something insensitive doesn't make it right. Everyone should do their part to ensure items posted are morally right. I'm quite sure the orginator of the poster didn't put those words in it. I'm quite sure whoever did is someone who really didn't take the time to think about it being inflammatory in nature. Again, I apologize for disrupting the originators message, but not sorry for feeling the way I do about the poster.
I didn't intend this to monopolize the whole conversation on political correctness and I sincerely apologize to the original author for taking away his right to try and sell his turbos on this wonderful thing called the internet.

Terry, Mracer, and anyone else I may have offended by posting the picture. . .If I offended you, then that truly was not my intent, and please accept my most humble apologies.
I have a cousin that has Downs syndrome, so yes indeed I am well aware of the importance of moments like this in a persons life, and looking back now I can see where you may think me somewhat uncaring or insensitive. This can not be further from the truth.
Beefcake- I share your thoughts as well. The intent of the message (no matter how poor in taste) was not to degrade the handicapped. My father was an amputee for God's sake. . . .
Once again- I apologize for any offense that my posting generated and can only hope that the people who attacked that posting genuinely don't think that I set little old ladies on fire and roll them down hills in their wheelchairs for fun. It was an attempt at humor, and it sucked (no matter how much I laughed when I first read it on the Corvette Forums).
Sincerely,

What's ironic is that the first time I saw the pic (which was probably a year ago)...it started out "arguing on the internet is a lot like.....", which is exactly what you aree doing now about the picture. I agree by the way that it is tacky and a cheap way to get a laugh at the expense of a group of people who really deserve better.
I am not interested in entering a debate about it because i realize the futility of trying to change anyones mind but that's my opinion.

Well, I honestly don't mind all the moral discusion about the picture. I don't agree with it, I didn't post it, but I am happy to see some debate over it.
I figured some civic owner would jump in and try to tear me a new one about the "where's the rice" title, thankfully we don't have many of them here.
Just a note on rice, I saw a green honda civic run a 13.9 at the Atlanta Dragway this past weekend. I ran agianst him and lost because of serious wheel-hop and tire spin from the line (I took 3 car lengths at the starting line, but at mid-track he came on hard, and walked me), he ran 13.94 and I ran 14.023. He must have had minute maid rice, cause his chet was fast for a civic. I know he was running a Garret t3-60 turbo with NOS, but not sure of how big a shot he was running.

WrongdayJ,
Honestly, I'm not looking for an apology. The picture struck a raw nerve and I had to say something. It's not my intention to make you or anyone else seem insensitive. And Logical, you're right I won't change anyones' mind. I'm just going to leave it as is.
By the way WrongdayJ, nice truck as most of the Lightnings are in this website....Yall have a great day.

That picture could be changed to draw more attention,, put a white person on it and say no matter what they are still white??? I think its just one of those things out to shock people, like those comedians who spend their whole routine making sure everything is indescent,,, its their job i guess. We all have to laugh when we see crap though,,, this reminds me of on jerry springer when everyone always yells "you dont know me **** off" when they come out on the stage being booed. You have to realize,, there is a websight called uglypeople.com,,, this kinda stuff is all over the itnernet,,, everyone on the board cracks up if it was a picture of a fat guy, or a goofy looking oldster, or some hillbilly down south, or a homeless person, i guess its whatever hits closest to home. This is a very sad thing and its not very nice of a picture to post, but i've seen worse even if its not a good thing.
