Question Lightning pulling to the left?

Hey guys, I was just curious whether anyone else has a Gen 2 Lightning that seems to pull to the left when driving on the highway or a flat road??? Most of the problems i've read so far had to do with Lightnings pulling to the right, not left. I am finding myself constantly moving the steering wheel to the right to get the truck back on track while travelling on the highway for some reason. I'm wondering if my alignment could have gone off so quickly...........

The only roads where the Lightning tracks straight, is if i'm driving on a road that is crowned in the middle and leans to the right

My Lightning didn't do this when I first bought it, but I would hope it's alignment wouldn't go out so quickly. I was looking at the red one my dealership had, but opted against it because it was also pulling to the left during the test drive. I have 1300 miles now.

Take it in, Get them to install a cam bolt kit and align it. Its free in the first 10,000 miles and if you ever decide to lower it, you will already have a cam kit installed....

Richard, are dealers viewing installation of the eccentic bolts as being standard now if a lightning needs an alignment? Is camber not adjustable without them?

From what I have been through, no ford F150 line vehicle can be totally lined up without them. I dont know how many fords do not have them but all of the F150 line does not. My moms Expy went through the same thing.

Most shops take care of it if its under 10K or the first 6 months I think....

Thanks, I just picked up my truck Friday and drove it all weekend. I kept trying to tell myself it was the road and not the truck. I guess making it drive straight from the factory is on the "To Do" list. Just one of those things I guess.

My truck was 100% in spec when I had it re-aligned with the herb's washers/cam bolts, with the EXCEPTION of the toe, which was all goofy. Now that the toe's right, the driving's much better.

With your truck having that few miles on it, Ford'll make it right, no question. Be there when they put it on the rack to see where it's at now....

junehhan,

I am having the exact same simptoms...

I have been thinking it was the road until I let a buddy drive the L and he noticed it. So... I think I will be making an appointment with the dealership...

Also check you tires! I'm not talking air pressure but the tire's construction can cause it. It's happend to me twice. Go ahead and rotate your tires before jumping to dilusions.

Thanks guys for all of your help on this issue. My Lightning went to the dealership today, and they verified that it's pulling to the left. The alignment isn't off, but I think the toe is what's off. They have the cam bolt kit or whatever it's called on order and when it comes in, they said they are going to install that, then realign my truck. They said they can't realign it without it.

Cam Bolt Kit

My L has been pulling to the right for about a year. It isnt real pronounced, but definately annoying. Does anybody know the part number for the cam bolt kit. I need to order it ahead of time since I'll have to do a road trip to get to the Ford dealer.

Thanks,
Mark
