Tps Adjusting

I was fooling around decided to check my tps it read .937 I could
adjust it up to about .974.

Here is my question is it better closest to but not over .99 or does it make any diferance as long as it is under .99??

Thanks

I could use some help in this area as well.I installed a BABOLT single blade billett T/B.Love the improved throttle response/power and noise level, but now my idle seems a bit high after driving. It goes away with a small "blip" of the throttle but i'd like to fix it.
I understand adjusting requires use of a multi-meter [I have one]but don't know the proceedure. Thanks for any help!
-Dave.

ok. I just put my babolt tb in 2 weeks ago. First I set the idle speed buy adjusting the screw to about 650 - 700 rpm. Then I loosened the tps screws and adjusted it to .98 volts. No problems. I think as long as you are under 1 volt your ok. It doesn't take much movement of the tps to change the reading so make sure you check it again after you tighten the screws.

Please note for any of the after market throttle body applications you have to adjust the TPS and your idle set should be done first. Any value over one volt from the TPS will cause the computer to think that the throttle is open and the EEC will start correcting. The "U build a Throttle Body" requires just a little more thinking and a simple setting of the idle screw and checking the voltage on the TPS. You should see the gyrations that the poor Mustang guys are going through will another know brand of throttle body. Recommendation on dropping fuel pressure, tweaking the Mass Air meter all the way to spending Hundreds of Dollars on the SHM M-afterburner to fix an idle issue.

PS. Brooks did a real nice write-up on the TPS adjustment and it should be available here with a search.

I set mine at .98 VDC with the truck running. If you set it with the key on only, it will creep up when you sart the engine, due to the alternator producing a charge.

I also elected not to puncture the wires. I just slid a small strand of wire into theplug before i pit the two together. I allowed it to protrude about 1/4". I hooked the positive lead to this, and the neg. to the battery.

If you go over 1.00 volts, it can throw the PCM into part throttle operation.

i pinned my wires, then someone told me a better way.. slide the pin up into the rubber of the plug where the wire goes into the back.. i tried it, and it worked great!

i set my TPS with just the key on, then checked it with the truck running also... it was the same.

I think that the AutoTap also measures the TPS voltage.
