i was just reading the other posts about pinging. i pray i dont have it but i hear some kind of knocking or pinging coming from the right side of my engine. its only on the right side and it does it when the engine is off and in normal driving conditions. its not all the time it went away for a while and now its back. can pinging occur when the engine is off?is the engine just cooling off?what could it be?

 

I think what you hear when its off is the exhaust cooling down. The stock cats make alot of noise after playtime. Pinging is a rattle sound when you are giving it gas.....

Yes, that's just the exhaust system and cats cooling down after romping on it. If your engine was pinging, it would only do it while you are giving it gas and would sound like a bunch of marbles being popped around in a tin can.
