Paging Ruslow - Harness bar color/Panhard bar frame bracket
Paging Ruslow - Harness bar color/Panhard bar frame bracket
Stan,
I figured it would be more fun posting this here instead of your forum at NLOC. My truck just changed colors from Red to White. What would be the best way to paint the harness bar? Or should I just leave it red?
I have a lot of parts to swap tomorrow! Now that I've driven a stock suspension setup, I'll have to say it's different compared to mine. I'm going to leave the frame bracket for the panhard on the old dumb red truck (inside JOKE for falcon11
), so I'll need a new one. I have an idea for a different design. I'll email a sketch. I'm still planning on using the big brakes even though the track car will see more time than the dumb white truck.

BTW, what was AJ Foyt's number? If it's not an upside-down-voodoo number, that'll be the one!

New truckster Sir Spike? congrads! you be a busy boy indeed.
obtw, AJ's number was 14. Be careful however, using this illustrious numeral may cause uncontrolable spells of pottie mouth, multiple trips to the buffet for seconds (or thirds) on a Texan-sized slice of prime rib w/ gravy NOT au jus, and a tendancy to b!tchslap (on live TV) racers that dare oppose you... or something.

white truck and new track car???? Did you break down and get a Z06 with new L to tow it?
Even though I haven't seen the harness the yet, I think the best way to paint it would be to give it a could sanding down. Make sure the surface is scuff/rough so the paint will adhere good. Don't know what type of paint to suggest, maybe an enamel type that would give it a nice glossy look?

Azeem,
Here's another tease: Laurie is VERY happy with what I've done. But, I'm selling the Jeep (not enough use). I'll give you a call later. Also, I'm not able to go to Pahrump, but you SHOULD go! Looks like lots of track time.
Berto,
Maybe Laurie and I will see you sometime this week at Starbucks. I'll show you pictures.
Capto,
I think I'll leave the bar red for now.

George-
I commend you on your color choice. . .but then again, I'm more than a little bit bias:

BTW- If you don't mind me chiming in on your question. . .I would have the stuff powdercoated. Your suspension components do see some severe service. . .and powdercoating is pretty tough. Plus, they don't seem to care whether you coat one piece or 50. I have stuff done regularly and the place I use charges by the batch. . .so send a buncha stuff as long as you are at it.

Later,
All the suspension components are either anodized aluminum or powder coated.
Since the harness bar is track only and just for securing the shoulder belts for a 6 point harness, it's more an appearance issue for a part that's purely functional. So, I'm either going to leave it red or sand it and paint it white. The belts are red and the track seats are black so what ever color I use will look fine.
Now that I've driven the truck and played with it a little, I must say that I can't wait to get the suspension from my old red truck on the new one. Last night, I played on a couple corners (not fast, just playing) and if the truck could talk, it would have asked "you want me to do WHAT?" My wife thinks the rear end looks goofy and laughed (it almost looks like a lifted 4x4 when parked next to the old one). Oh well - it's new and changes will be made!
