Stock Boost

Gentlemen,

I have run a search looking for stock boost levels on the L, however I can't find enough postings to get an average number. Can you please post what your stock #'s were so that I can get an average? Thanks.

Well if the manual says 8, then I guess that''s the number I should go by. Thanks

My stock gauge shows 10 Lbs on a cool night. Seems to be 1 or 2 less on a hot & humid day.
Make sure your bypass valve is properly adjusted, otherwise some of the boost may bleed off.

I have never seen a stock Lightning, of any year (second gen), create less than 9Lbs of boost.

Reed, the "blower"/supercharger on top of the motor pressurizes the intake manifold and forces air (forced induction) into the motor. That forces more oxygen into the cylinder. More oxygen/fuel = stronger combustion = more hp. It's common to refer to the pressurization of the air as "boost", i.e. turbo boost, boost gauge, etc.

It averages about 8 psi- a little more in colder/low altitude climates, a little less in hotter/high altitude areas. Although with just the upgraded intercooler and a panel K&N I regularly hit 10+ psi in the hot Phoenix AZ climate.

Later,
