Yes they do have a clunk, came across an 02 owner of a true blue not so long ago who was talking about how he just had the clunk fixed by a dealer and was hoping the fix would last cause he didn't use herb's washers yet.

Just had my bolt in for service --- they ordered the part and
performed the TSB for the 01 F150 Clunk. It involved the
star washer (Seems the fix didn't make it into the 02 production run)
and cleaning the entire arm assembly and re-aligning the
front end.

The service manager told me that without the fix, the constant
sliding of the arm would contribute to unreasonable wear on the
tires. Soooo ... We'll try Ford's Fix first ... The CLUNK is gone!!!
Now I just wonder how LONG?

Hey FT ...

Do you sell / install the Line Mod in Cincy? If so, I need to come see you before I go out east ...

My 02, made Jan, bought in Feb, has the star lockwasher. At 3000 miles and some hard driving, no clunk yet.

Hey SVT_KY,

The washer supplied with the TSB from Ford won't hold up for long. The TSB has been out for a while to supposedly fix the clunk, but it doesn't.

I had mine fixed by ford back in 2000, I guess they must've tighten the hell out of it because it never came back.

TSB # 00-25-08 is the number for the washer fix.
