I've read many great stories about people racing in their Lightning's. I love to hear how the Lightning matches up to other vehicles of all shapes sizes and price ranges. I've read other people laughing because they blew away some high priced sports car, or how they were beaten by some moded up what ever. So tell your story, it can be about your latest kill or what ever....I've found these stories to be interesting and usually funny. Tell us what you raced, mods. if you knew them, and if you won, lost, gave up, or where pulled over... hehe.

 

Well I will give you a list of cars I took out when my 01 was modded....

Plenty of SS's, WS6's, ZR1's, Cobra's, Vette's, a few Z06's, Grand Nationals, Varius old Street Race cars.

I lost to many highly modded cars as well though. Mostly Turbo or NOS cars, but some built motor cars. I did alot of off the track playing so I had many chances to test cars. Most of my playing was done when I ran 12.0-12.40's. Be careful of what you play with, there are plenty of sleepers out there....

 

yesterday i pulled up to an 01 SS, and we were going about 40 mph, and then a 02 Z06 came flying up out of no where, and slowed down next to me Me and the vette floored it at the same time, and he FLEW away from me like nothing, he had to have gotten like 6 or 7 cars on me by the time i was going 90 The SS would not race

 

I don't have a Lighting but there was a guy around where i live that had a 2000 modle we were both first in line I stomped on it he didn't take off like that but decided to show me the power he had all i can say I need to get a better paying job so I can get me a Lighting some day.

 

Some of you guys may not believe this... I didn't really... but here goes:
I pulled to a stop light along side a '93-'94 Viper about 2 weeks ago. He was on my passanger side so I was leaning over to check out his ride (Viper = bad a** car). He took of his sun glasses and looked at me an said (and I quote) "nice truck... but it dosen't come close to my car!" Needless to say, he pissed me off. I reved it up a little. Then he asked if I wanted to race. (I don't do street racing but for this A**hole I'll go for it) He said "Best 2 out of 3... stoplight to stoplight". Well, first light turned... I expected to see his taillights... nope all I saw was asphalt! The second light turns... I see his front bumper pull ahead. Third light... green! I've got a full tank of gas so I floor it off the line! Asphalt again!!! Damn this truck is quick! I know what some of you are thinking... and yea... maybe you're right, maybe he didn't really know what he was doing... but to embrass him like that in front of his girlfriend was priceless!!!

 

i was headed to pick up my waverunnersand boat on mothers day. i had 2 people in the L w/ me and the bed was full of coolers and what not. my wife was behind me in our SUV with some other friends. anyway, there is a brand new vette in front of me looking for pole position. i followed him through traffic untill we came to a stretch of 3 lanes wide and we were the first cars in 2 of the lanes. i looked over to challenge him and he was already revving. he had a temp tag sticker in the window and what looked to be his mom in the passenger seat. we both keep inching forward, then the light turns green. we both take off great. then comes second gear, all i hear is my tires chirping. then he starts to slowly fall back. i shut down at 100mph and im 2 legnths ahead!! as i slow down, he keeps on it and give me the classic ricer fly-by while his mom is waving at me like i lost. LOL i was so happy all my friends were there to see that, they are always saying that a vette will eat me up.

same day-- on the way back from the lake, i still have a bed full of lake crap and a cab full of people. also, i am pulling 2 waverunners. well, a honda prelude keeps trying to pass me. so i keep speeding up to not let him by.(im such an a-hole) then we get to where there are 2 lanes in each direction. we stop at a light and the car full of asians are all eyeballing me. he starts revving his engine. so the light turns green and we both take off. befor second gear, he is next to my trailor and just keeps falling farther back. HAHA i beat a ricer while pulling *****!! and my chip was on tow mode.

Back in 2000 I was in San Antonio with 30 or of the guys who are mostly now on F150World ... Me, Wyldman and Nathan had Lightnings and we had some fun on the back roads on the way back from the lake to the Highway... Criusing along with Nathan and Wyldman behind me doing about 120 and look up to see a 35 mph curve sign.... Brake hard and go around the 2 lane corner no problem.... Boy that was fun...

Actually that's totally believable. The GEN 1 Vipers, while quick, shouldn't be -that- much faster then your 'L'. The Gen 1's I've seen at the track run high 12s, low 13s. Vipers are kinda a pain to launch too, so if he roasted his tires off the line and you didn't ... win goes to you. Congrats! Always nice to be supercars!

Well, I would love to tell you a story about racing on the street but I can't get any one to race me. I don't know what they are thinking but they are always no go when I take off. My thinking is they don't want to be beat by a girl.

 

Hi everyone - Just came over from NLOC... Saw this post, and had to register here! So, here's my story:

Just after I slapped in my Diablo chip and 6# lower, I was driving back from Burger King with some food for me and my wife. (only one drink, and those king-sized cups fit PERFECT in the pop-out cupholders! )

So, I'm driving down Arena Drive in Hamilton, 2 lanes in each direction, and I'm behind a yellow Z06. The traffic light in front of me turns red. I'm like 'SOB, this will NEVER happen again...', and procede to turn off the A/C, and hold onto my drink. The 'Vette got a good jump on me off of the line, since I didn't feel like mopping coke off of my floor....

Needless to say, once I pounded the gas, I caught right up to him, and kept passing until I let off of the gas at around 90. The guy stops next to me at the next traffic light, and rolls down his window. All he has to say is, "That's not stock, is it?" With a simple 'nope', he was satisfied, and the light turned green.

 

shoulda said 'yup'. would have really ruined his day

 

Really hate to post this one cause its concerns a brother lightning owner... My 2002 was about a week old, and my wife and i were comming home about 12am. The freeway was empty, and i looked over and a red 99 or 2000 was entering the freeway.. He came right beside us imediately and was teasing... so we slowed down to about 50 and then we hit it at about the same time.. I have limo 5% tint on the truck and they couldnt see us, and they had no way of knowing that my wife was driving,,, we were dead even at about 80 and i was getting worried till my wife said she was afraid of cops and didnt have it floored,,, I started screaming floor it now .. lmao and she did.. by the time we were at about 110 we were about 3 trucks in the front of them and i told her to let off of it.. So we slowed down and he came back beside us.. there were 3 young guys in the truck when i put the window down they were smiling until they saw my wife driving then there faces sank.. I told them sorry.. they kept wanting to race but we beat them so bad the first time it didnt make sence.. so we got off a few exits later and that was that.. Sorry again brothers ..
