Question Anyone who installed an upper pulley

Does anyone have pics of an upper pulley install? Please give details of what brand pulley it is.

I can see how the pulley comes off, but how do you put the pulley on with the snout still on the blower(on the truck)?

I've heard the horror stories of tearing up snout bearings, but it seems like a lot of people change the upper with out any problems.

Thanks,
Jason

The only person that comes to mind with doing the upper pulley right is JJ from www.nloc.net

I recommed not doing the upper pulley but going with a larger lower pulley. I did the upper and the pulley pulling tool is worth a *****. My friend who did it for me had to use the grinder to cut it off and to put the upper on you will need a press to do it right. Lets just say that when i get the money i will be puttig either a stock pully back on or new snout with pulley. To much of a hassle switching back to stock when you do the upper and i almost had my warrenty voided for the upper pulley since i cut my stock one. I was running the 2-1.5 upper and 2# lower and with my other mods PSP FastAir, BaBolt TB, 90mm Maf, Bassani Cat back i was seeing like 14.5 almost 15.lbs of boost on my autometer gauge. I say go with a 4# lower you can get the same effect and way easier to switch back to stock for a dealer visit.

I bought my upper from Mark at LFP. I also bought the pulley tool. The installation was easy and trouble free. Instructions were included and weren't too hard to decipher. This is the same kit Metco sells. It has interchangeable hubs. Sizes 293 (stock) and 280. Mine has been on for 9 months and zero problems. I am not even considered an accomplished "back yard" mechanic. I can't see any reason that anyone would have a problem with this pulley kit. If I were going to 6 lbs. boost for track purposes on a daily driver, a 4 lb. lower and a 2 lb. interchangeable upper is the way to go. 4 pounder for daily duty and add the 2 for track duty if you don't like running 6-7 lbs extra boost at all times.

Seriously, the install is easy. Do it by yourself with no distractions and a screw-up is almost impossible.

Thanks for the info guys.

How does the pulley go on? DO you have to remove the snout and get it pressed on?

Roger, how did you get the hub on the snout?

Thanks Don for your link, but it doesn't show putting the pulley on, just taking it off.

Does someone have pics of putting the upper on? OR can someone e-mail me a set of instructions.

Thanks,
Jason

Cool Talk to JJSSVT

Go to JJSSVT.com website and get his phone number. He did my upper pulley in minimum time with no problems. He is very knowledgeable and great at Customer Service which is rare these days.

The tool that comes with the pulley kit is used the pull the stock pulley and press the hub for the interchangeable pulleys on. Really, it is simple to do. I only had to move the intake duct out of the way for clearance. The whole job took less than 45 minutes and I was being very careful.

I'll see if I still have the directions laying about somewhere.
