Question ??? on putting ice in the intercooler tank???

ok im back finally after a long onion season maybe i can get some more time now to do what i enjoy so much. i have a question. im goin to run tonite and i was thinking bout draining some of my intercooler fluid off and adding ice cubes in it. has anyone done this if so were there any drawbacks to doin it. i dunno if it will help or not but it seems like it is worth a shot. if i do this it should be done just before the run right?

thanks in advance.

If your going to do it, go buy some distilled water and make some good ice.

I put some store bought ice in once and it made the fluid turn real skany. I had to drain flush and refill it.

You would need crushed ice to do that. There are internal baffles in the stock intercooler tank which precludes you from putting in more than one or two cubes in it. I've tried this in the past, and the ice is usually gone before you start your run. I didn't really notice any improvement, but theoretically an improvement is there if the timing were also advanced to take advantage of the cooler intake air. It isn't worth the effort IMHO.

Cool Rusty:

I think you would get more from putting ice in your pockets. That way, your brain would be cooled down--just don't let it run off on to the track or I'll repote(sic) yo donkey -----Muuuuuuuuuwaaaaaaa

I've seen guys do that, but honestly... they usually get better results by icing down the intake. Just place a towel over the s/c intake and put a bag of ice on top. From what the guys tell me it's better than putting ice in the intercooler fuild. But that's just my $.02. Good luck!

I ice down the blower inlet tube an all of the blower I can reach. I haven't been able to quantify any results, other than it seems to make the truck more consistant.

This baby is the best your going to find on the net for cooling down our blower setup. And with 7 gallons of ICE & Water it works great.
