Plasma Cutter!!

just kiding.

Unless you have long tubes I wouldn't even waste your time trying to run without cats. I tried it with a full bassani exhaust and shorty headers and it sounded worse and I lost power and low end TRQ.

This brings up a very good point. We need an "Off Road H Pipe" like the 5.0 Mustang guys have. The GM guys use Oxygen sensor simulators to fool the OBD2 computer into thinking the cats are still working.
I guess it's just a matter of time until somebody sells them ......

Why no cats?

It's been my experience that good high performance cats offer virtually no additional backpresure vs. a straight pipe.

Do the environment a (small) favor and run with cats, even at the track.

It's been my experience that the cat wastes fuel (3/4 less MPG) and costs HP (Vette won't run 12's with cat in).
Enron pollutes more in one minute than my rarely used race car ever will in my lifetime.

OEM cats

I'll agree that OEM cats waste HP/MPG (basically the same thing really since you're wasting HP, it takes more fuel to do anything), but a nice high performance cat system doesn't hurt any car I know of.

PS: true about enron, but still, it makes me feel slightly better.
