me- Vacuum leak? Ford-Supposed to..???

On warm 75+ days when my A/C is at full power and I'm just cruisin my air will divert from the vent to the defrost. one of the "advisors" at my local for dealer told me this is normal... I'm thinking vacuum leak. Anyone had this happen?

I took it in for the intercooler replace (which was leaking) and they could not get the vacuum/vent problem to reproduce... big suprise...

anyone?

I can speak to this directly. . .as I just went through it.

Look at the VECI label under your hood. It will show you the proper routing of the vacuum lines. Track and trace each line to where it is supposed to go and do a diagram. Compare the actual to the specified diagram and make the changes that the dealership missed.

I had some work done, and I don't know what RETARD they had working on my truck, but when they gave it back to me it did the defrost thing you spoke of, plus the truck wouldn't make any boost!!! They commented that it was my 'aftermarket' boost guage installation, hahaha. Knowing what I know about the boost bypass solinoid, I (not a factory-trained technician, but a technician none the less) began doing some troubleshooting diagnostics. There were 4 vacuum lines that were routed by the factory technician incorrectly. After correcting this, the truck runs strong. . .even with my 'aftermarket' boost gauge installed. . .and the A/C works great again. I also noticed the nut that holds the throttle return spring bracket on was loose, and the coil wiring harnesses were not fastened AT ALL to the valve cover attachment posts. Workmanship problems like this can be avoided. Just take your time and study like hell before you dig into any repairs.

Good Luck!!

Angry Oh, I wish

I wish that SVT dealerships had a few mechanics that were "SVT certified" or something, where they had to essentially rebuild the SVT vehilcles to get the certification. So they knew what the fock they are doing... It's so scary knowing that some of the new hire mechanics out there working on these cars know less than I do about them...

Just sort of venting. Nothing to add to help; reading this just made me angry that stupid things like this happen...

Perhaps even a 10k add-on to warranty every time they do something stupid, or like $1k towards the purchase a a new vehicle everytime they screw up... I dunno... I just want to hurt them, like they hurt us an d our vehicles...

ok, I'm done

Oh don't get me started. . .

1. My truck was laid up (AT BERGE FORD IN MESA, AZ) for 11 days.
- They only gave me a loaner Focus for three
2. They were the kings of the 4:00pm excuse. (but only when I called them- they never called me with updates.) one of the excuses they used for delaying the repair was that the service tech had to . . .get this. . .go to SVT Class because he was 'working' on his certification. They had a technician that was not SVT certified working on my truck! I demanded that my vehicle be taken immediately to Sanderson or Lou Grubb, but neither of them would touch it after the work was started by another dealership. I can see why. The workmanship issues were horrible. I fixed all the ones I could find. I'll be damned if they are gonna lay another wrench on my L.
3. When I asked 'Bob' the so-called Service Manager what he was gonna do about all this crap, and me being so pissed and all. . .he told me, "I'll fix your vehicle, because that's what I'm obligated to do." Amazing world we live in when Service Managers think that going above and beyond means doing the bare minimum expected of them.
