How much more performance will I see from a 4# lower pulley over that of a 2#?
I would like to get in the 12 second club with my "L" but do not want to add too much and risk harm to it ,as it is my only ride...my everyday squeeze...and has 30K miles on her.
I am planning on adding the 90MM MAF and Cold air induction system with 12" cone type filter.
I also will add a Boost Bypass kit.
I am currently running a Diable Sport Chip and had some problems with predetonation with it but seems to pull strong.
A bottle of NOS octaine boost with some 93 seems to have resolved that....Why does it seem from reading these posts that everyone hates the Diablo chip?
Any other sugestions???
I have not had a chance to run it at the track yet so I don't know where she sits now, I would guess mid 13's
IDEAS????
"99" Lightning #208
Diablo Sport Chip
K&N air filter
Valentine 1 Radar locator
"02" lights (front, turn, rear 3rd brake)

andy:
A 4 lber should get you into the 12s with a chip and a filter kit. I had to add M/T ET Streets to get mine in and I'm using a 5 lber.
Mine has 27, 850 miles on her--daily driven--monthly raced.
No, not everyone "hates" the Diablo chips. I have one and use it with no problems along with the other two chips I have. Just be sure to get your(no matter what 'brand') chip reburned it tuned for 4 lbs+ of extra boost so you don't run too lean.

Im also a Diablo man, I have use other chips and always come back to my JL set up. I would go with the 4# pulley and get a reburn like Lightninrod said. Tell your tuner what mod's you have and what type of fuel you will be running and they will set you up. You may have to get another chip or have it reburned for winter and summer setting. If your going to get a 90mm MAS I would do it all at the same time so you only have to get one reburn. That should do it buddy. I ran a 12.6 with a JL chip 3# pulley and JL shift kit with a K&N drop in filter and the air box bottom removed. I'm running a 6# now and drive mine everyday to work so a 4 should be plenty safe if thats what you want.

Thanks for the advise. Any thoughts on the best MAF/cold air?
I have heard that I would be better served to stay away from the "Caged" pulleys...any truth/reason?
Also, any trouble from adding a Oil Breather cap and/ or Boost Bypass Kit?

I'd personally get the 2#er. Will be less stressful on your blower all the time, its less of a risk of breaking something, AND I bet you can get in the 12's no problem. I ran a 13.08 with chip/filter/TB/ETstreets, and I've seen many Lightnings at the track run 12.8's easy with a chip/filter/2# pulley, on stock F1's.
The 2#ers have been around longer than the 4#ers, and since the 4's came out, I have seen more issues about breaking things more so than with 2#'s (although alot of it I think is people slapping a 6er on there and not having the right tune, etc)
just my opinion

I'd go with the 2lber also. You can get into 12's with it.
Last season I ran a 13.001 with chip/filter/2lb. I would have been in 12's, but due to hotchkis springs (and not having proper shocks for them) I couldn't get enough traction with the F1's and my driving skill.

You guys are both running "01" or newer "L's" though, mine is a "99" with 30K miles.
I would almost certainly need to go to a 90 MM MAF and Cold air kit to even be close to what your can do strait out of the box.
Remember, I have the old gears too.

Andy,
With my 99, I had high (12.8-12.9)with just PSP Intake, Superchip and PSP 2# lower. Thats with the stock 80mm....
Of course that was with good weather and track conditions.
A guy up here has a 99 with those same mods running very low 13's at 105 MPH. So, it can be done......
After all my mods, the best I got with the 2#'er was 12.45 @ 109

2# vs 4#
In my assesment, running NOS is like playing Russian Rulette, Not a question of if you blow something, a question of when...I want to have 0 problems as I have an extended factory warranty of 6/72K
I think I have a much better shot of hitting the 12 Club with a 90MM MAF and a 4# pulley with chip.
Afraid if I choose the 2#, I will have it on Ebay in a few weeks trying to unload it to buy a 4#...my luck a 2# and all the other mods would put me at 13.000000001 and I would miss the 12 mark.
Also want to make sure since I do have the warranty that I keep all mods within a 90 minute swap to original in case she needs to go in for service / repair

I would go with the 4# pulley, this will allow you 12sec runs in less than prefect conditions (ie weather and traction). Just make sure that your chip is burned for the pulley and change your plugs. It6 is also a good idea to replace your them. (If you need [EDIT] Violation of Vendor rules [/edit] )

2# or 4#
I went with the 4#, a 90 MM MAF, air intake and an Auto Logic chip and a new set of Denzo plugs.
Should have some results by the first weekend of June...earlier if you count what the G-Tec Pro reads
I was tinking if I went with a 2# I would always have that in the back of my mind as the next upgrade, then would be out the extra money to have the chip reburned...this way it is all done at one time and tuned with the coresponding componets.
