Question Any foglight updates?

I've been digging through the search, but haven't really seen much in the "new" category. We all know that these foglights seem to (or at least used to) break every time you turn them on, but is this still the case? Have any of y'all found some that work better than others, or are we all just replacing the lenses ("glass covers") over and over again?

I had to replace one of mine a while back and the Mustang light (87-93, I think) I used needed minor trimming so it would fit right. Is everyone still going with this light, or is there something that fits better? I also seem to remember a post a month or so ago saying that you can now buy just the lenses and not the whole light (thus saving ~$30). Anyone know how to find this post (maybe it was even on the NLOC board).

As y'all can probably guess, I've got ANOTHER one that busted on the this weekend. No glass at all on the front of it. Glad I didn't get any in my tire when she went. I'm just trying to get some updates and hopefully have a good "information" post to have hiding in the archives. Thanks, y'all.

DUCK

My hope for a fix should be here by the end of the week. I will post more after they are installed.

Duck,

I remember that post from a while back. Someone posted that you could get reproduction lenses from Texas Mustangs for 18.00 each. I ordered some and found that it wasn't a big deal adapting them for the truck. Uses a different spade connector for the ground. Looks identicle minus the HELLA emblem. I guess untill they figure out a better way...here's a cheaper way.

Fog lamps

I have a 2000L and would love to find clear lenses instead of the frosted ones which were the stock. I already checked and the 2001 won't fit. Anybody have a source?

I have a 02 L that I purchased new on 01/30/02. To date I have had no problem with the fog lights. Maybe Ford has finally got them fixed. I don't use them that often so maybe that is why I have had no problems. Any 02 owners having a problem with the fog lights?

Brooks posted about the texasmustang lights about a month ago. I ordered a set and I think they cost $41.90 total cost. I cut the end off of the ground wire and crimped a wider female connector on the end to fit the male connector on the light.

nostreetracing - have you used your fog lights much? on a cold/rainy day?

I have an 02L without any problems with the foglights, but I haven't needed to use them. We haven't had much fog around here in a while.

My '02 has some nicely broken lights, after only 5K miles. I have some waiting at the dealership for warranty repair right now.

snoopy, no I don't use them that often. Hopefully we are getting into the rainy season so I will be using them alot. We will see what happens then.

2Cool, How often did you use them and what kind of weather conditions?

If its dark, they are on. So yep, in rain, fog, clear skies, they are on. Kind of the point of having them, I thought. Its a bit asinine to have to use them only on nice nights...

Sorry, just giving you flack.

I don't use mine unless conditions warrant, but as a long-time motorcycle rider I understand the desire for additional vision / visibility. My Guzzi Jackal has two 70,000 candlepower pencil beams wired into the highbeams, and my Honda ST1100 has two 55W/100W H4 lights. We have a LOT of deer around my house. When I come home at night it looks like a 737 is landing.
