brake problem?
brake problem?
my front pass. side brake pads are giving off a LOT of brake dust.
way more than any of the rest.. i have just under 36k miles on them, and havent ever changed the pads.
i don't hear any grinding or rubbing like i normally would with a worn out pad.
is something wrong? help!

Brooks:
Does it pull to the right under braking? I just can't think of what would cause that........rt. rotor too coarse, some how the brake biaising is thrown off............???

Maybe a crack in the rt. rotor, thereby eating up the pad more quickly? Remember, many guys are 'sold' on NAPA's ceramic pads---might be time to change over and get a close-up look at the rotor(s). Be sure and get the rotors checked for trueness and runout if you're not going to change them.

It could be the pads are getting thin. Generally speaking, there is a change in the pad composition, as you get close to the adhesive that holds the pad to the backer. You might be geting into this different compound.
I just changed out my pads for the third time. I was running Performance Friction "Z" rated, brake dust producing pads. Wheels turned black in 2 hours of driving. I found out why last week. They were wearing at a very high rate. After 6000 miles, they were all gone!
I installed the Hawk HPS pads in front, and will be adding the rears in acouple of weeks. They are comparable to the Performance Friction in braking power, but I haven't seen anywhere near the dust.
George, Monty Hall suggested that I stay with the HPS pads. He felt that there would be an issue of rotor wear on a street driven vehicle with the pads that you are using.

Sorry guys.....
for the O/T part post
but Spike/George is a dog 'nut' and he has a Rhodesian Ridgeback(I use to have one too) that was originally bred to hunt down lions in the Rhodesian plains and keep them away from the farmer's and rancher's herds.
I posted that link as an Ocicat 'looks wild' but is not--not a drop of 'wild' blood in their background.
The show quality kittens will be in the $300 range. I paid $100 for Henry as he is what they call "a retired adult". The air-cargo charge was $165 from CA to Atlanta. The breederhttp://www.sunstoneocicats.com/ is a great lady and a DVM.

Boy Dan that's a long way to ship a cat. Yorba Linda's about 5 miles from here. Oh yeah, I'm in CA. LOL
That cat has very unique markings. Are you going to show him, or just let let him ride in the "L" to the show and shines?
