I raced a Grand National
He was running 15PSI, and had some intake work. Raced once, with his boost low, beat him with 2 lightning lengths. Another after he turned up the boost, beat him by 1 1/2 lightning lengths, the 2 more times but I couldnt keep my dang tires from spinning, its that crazy torque
So I was happy, I just felt like planting my foot those times

Those are some cool cars. Watch out there are plenty of really fast ones out there. Good job on the kill. Do you know what year it was>??? I wonder why he was running only 15LBS I run 17-18 all day long in mine. Good job again. -Mat- Oh and FYI my dad had a bone stocker on D/R's going 13.2
I race a T-Type the other day we were going about 50 mph,we both punched it all i saw was him in the rear. They were fast in there day but todays hot rods are so much faster .Stock their slow ,most sports cars today are in mid 13's stock. My lightning is stock too.The cars in the mid/Late 80's don't even come close to today's cars. They were ledgends in their day for what they were but it's over. TODAYS A NEW DAY [LIGHTNINGS] Jimmy

Be careful when playing with the Turbo Buicks, most are quick enough to beat up even a much modified L. With my 86 T-type I could drive to the track, lower the air in my tires and run 11.50's @ 120mph on pump gas. Never made a full pass with race fuel and slicks but should have gone 10's easily. I have a bud with a similar setup that has run 10.40 @ 127 (on slicks & race fuel) and is still running the stock bottom end with 100K miles on it, he now wants a Lightning

I will say that the Buicks are VERY tempermental and take a lot of time to tune correctly. They are also effected by the weather dramatically so if the temps make a major change take your chances. When running from a roll a good Turbo Buick driver will actually be dragging the brakes to build boost (power braking on the fly) and will leave you wondering if the car has an afterburner while you are waiting for the downshift and blower boost to kick in. That's all I am allowed to admit at this time as a two time former Buick owner, now back to making L's faster
.
BTW Jimmy, both of my Buicks ran 13.80's bone stock same as my L. The 86 T ran 11.80's with 148K miles on the motor and transmission and never had the valve covers off which is pretty impressive in my opinion. I have 7.000 miles on the L and am getting real close to the 12's wonder how well it will run in 141K miles, bet it won't be in the 11's, but then again the Buick sucked at hauling sod
