How much oil???

I recently had my 99L in for some warranty work (raddle at cold start and transmission noise.) I also had the oil changed while I was there. When I got my truck back I began to smell burning oil. The service guy that changed my oil wrote 6.5qts per SSM on the sticker on the wind shield. I've changed my oil several times per the owners manual and it states 6.0 quarts (including filter.)

Did they over fill my truck and if so, what should I do?

I always use only 5.5 quarts to keep from sucking it down the intake. It may be messy but if I were you I would pull the L up on ramps and drain out a little if its still reading high on the stick, if you drain out to much you can always add some back. O and from now on I would change my own oil.

I know it's somewhere in the search but it's small to find. What is the recomended amount FROM SVT? Isn't it 6QT? I think the manual says 6.5 but SVT says 6. Can anyone back that up.

The manual says 6 qts. I checked. I called 800-FORD-SVT and they said 6qts too unless there is a updated SSM that they are not aware of.

Yea I think your correct on the 6 qts., but I wouldn't use but 5.5 if you don't have a mod to keep it out of you intake.

I'm using 5.7qt of Motorcraft 5W-20 and Motorcraft FL820S. At 3000mi no oil in the intake, and no oil consumption in the crankcase. No marbles yet. Everything checks out so far.

How much oil??

This just drives me crazy sometimes. I too call 1/800-Ford-SVT and spoke of the oil in the intake proble. Not once, but twice. Both times..December of 2000 and a couple months ago. Both times, I was told that they were telling the SVT dealers that they should use 5.5 quarts when asked what to do about the intake oil problem and not the 6 the owners manual states. Now they they are saying 6 again?? What's up with that? All I can say is the intake is dry and I run 5.5. Let get it together SVT. How about the SVT peope talk to each other..

I'm unfamiliar with the oil in the intake problem. Where do I check this? Is it sucking through the PCV?

Disconnect your air intake tube at the front of the TB and look at the inside of the TB and inside the air intake tube. If you see any oil...you got it too. Yes, it's from the PVC system.. Try searchig: "Oil in intake tube....GP
