Found CHEAP source for F1's!

I worked a Car and Driver shoot-out yesterday at Michigan International Speedway. What a BLAST! A (highly modified) Sonoma did a low 10 second ¼, but its automatic transmission fried on the road course. But I digress…

MIS was in the process of installing crash barriers made out of tires 4 stacks deep around the inside of the track. I started looking at the tires they were bolting together. Almost all were new Goodyears. Some were clearly defective, but most looked good to me. Along the backstretch I started seeing a few of our tires (295/45/18 F1’s). Then further down there were stacks and stacks of them! Every one had ½” holes drilled through the sidewalls and tread ready to accept bolts with large washers. DOH! How big a hole can you patch?…

You might have a hard time getting them balanced, depending on where the holes are

If you try to patch a hole in the side wall, you may want to get a roll cage for racing.....
