Their listing the HOT new Concept cars and i see OH the NEW Dodge SRT-10 !!! OMG And in the little thing they write their they write "Lighting ? Ha! We got your perfect storme right here! Jamed with 8.3 liters of all-aluminum Viper V-10 power under the hood Scooped Hood of a new Ram truck,bolt on some gnarly brake-dust-colored 24-inch wheels overbig breaks and a firm suspenionbits,and you preety much have the ultimate Pickup.The 500-hp Dodge Ram SRT-10 was shown along side other SRT's......
All i got to say Is i dont think they ever heard of a little LongIsland company called PowersurgePerformance! Or JL Or JDM..... This is guna be great ! When they bring this POS out ! Smile's aaall around !

"Car and Driver?" You mean "4-Door Sedan Review?" These are the same guys who admitted they didn't "get" the whole Lightning concept a couple years back when they did a review. These are the same guys who wax orgasmic over the latest Kia 4 door sedan. I got a free subscription and I still canceled it. And their TV show sucks, too.

well, it seems like they are unbiased. the lightning was in a class of its own for years, but now a bigger/faster truck comes up. the viper power is stump crunching, and could atleast out tow i guess. its still the ugliest damn truck i have ever seen, will definatley cost a good 50-60k, upkeep will be a pain (burning up 24 inch tires! 500 lbs of torque at the rear wheels with a stick and every month itll be 600 bucks a tire), and face it: not too many people can work stick to fully get all that power, or atleast in the power band. i have a friend with a 94(?) lightning, and it keeps up with and even beats another friends brand new saleen and another friends 94 rx7. take two common drivers, and the lightning will win with less wheel spin and stick.

 

I think Motor Trend is a lot worse and more biassed than even C&D. BTW, what in the hell is up with C&D? They were only able to get 12.9 in the 1/4 mile from a 03 Cobra.............do they not know how to drive, or was that deliberate?

First thing i saw the Truck in person at the NY Autoshow. and eveywhere it had specs on it it had big bold letters that said Dodge SRT-10 SHOW TRUCK. I havent heard anything from dodge about it lately has anyone?? Also no way in HE!! will that truck come with 24's it wont even come with 20's ill bet you. I hope dodge builds it so that Ford will have to beef up the Gen 3 Lightning even more hopefully they build it. I dont know about you but i wont be scared even if i see it pull up next to me at the light. I say bring it competiton is always good and gets a us a better product in the end.

Then Dodge can say it has topped the Lightning. All this bad talk about a vehicle that has yet to be built kinda reminds me of high school, when some guy was always gonna beat you IF he ever got his motor running right. Might happen, but hasn't yet.

 

The Dodge is in this months "Sport Truck" magazine...

They gave all the info.. 500hp, 12.9 1/4, 5.0 0-60, .92g in the slalom at 70mph... (which is better than a zo6 vette) 24" wheels... the mag said it's going into production for the '03 model year...

The mag called it "Darth Vader's Dream Truck" or something like that...

 

Y'all... I've been following the Viper scene since 1990 before the thing even hit the road... The car is cool... but it's in a class all it's own. I know we have L's out there that can put a can of whoop a$$ on them just about anytime...

But... the tuner world out there is very expensive... try and buy smooth intake hoses for the car (soon to be truck) and you'll see what I mean...

Deep pocket folks will buy that truck and not the Lightning contingency...

Build up the bottom ends on ours, throw on a KB whipple, up the boost and we can go hunting for these guys...

Better yet... if any thing on that survey we took comes true... wait and buy the new and improved "L" deluxe!!!

 

Have any of these mags, actually driven the truck? those times are the exact same ones quoted months ago, when it made it's splash. maybe they don't want anyone "testing" it, for some reason

 

a 12.9 just can't be right! there's no way unless that truck is a PIG above all others!

I don't know why all you guys are so worried anyway! with a chip, pulley, and air filter where already tearing that thing up.

I wouldn't be to scared guys, those things are going to be broke more then they will be running anyway.
