I don't know why all you guys are so worried anyway! with a chip, pulley, and air filter where already tearing that thing up.
I wouldn't be to scared guys, those things are going to be broke more then they will be running anyway.

Arguing whether we could mod a lightning to run with a stock SRT/10 is pointless...any car could be modified. There are 700hp fiesta's out there.

I think Autoweek had a comment from some exec at SVT quoting something like "Dodge is so busy trying to dethrone the Lightning, that they better watch what the GT40 is going to do to the Viper", something like that. I like those "fighting" words. It will be interesting to see what is under the hood of the GEN3 Lightning.
Also, a modified Lightning will be able to beat a stock SRT, (if it really is a Viper motor under the hood), but...I have been to many car events, and seen many Vipers that are 700-800+HP. They might not hook up so well at the start, but it would have a serious advantage at the end of the 1/4 mile.
All that said, I will worry only if and when I see one next to me in the staging lanes.

i've a little experience modding dodge V-10's. there are no Sal's, Johnny's and Jim's. only Mega$$$-tuners and you with your wrench, and nothing in between. if you choose the "you and your wrench" plan, expect to pay 5-10 times, what we pay for mods. if you choose the Mega$$$-tuner route, you are rich, or something
Just remember BBQ, back in 98, there were no gen 2 lightning tuners either. It all depends on how much they sell this truck for I suppose..and what volumes they make it at.
If you build it...tuners will come.
or something
The viper is an incredibly expensive car, so I guess they figure if they can afford the car, they dont mind getting bent over by Hennesey.
If the truck comes out to be mid 30s to low 40s in some decent volumes, the aftermarket should appear.

These are my delusional opinions but if they come true I will definetely trade the HD for a Gen 3 L.
