Trade in Value?

Well, I hate to admit it but I am on the verge of trading the L in on either a 4X4 F150 or maybe even a Ranger. The question I have is, what kind of money should I expect on trade for my 2000 Lightning, w/ 25000 miles and no problems whatsoever? I have been to Kelley Blue Book and they state like 29 for trade in!!! Edmunds says like 18. Thanks for the help everyone.

Unhappy

Someone from this board traded a 2001 not long ago, and got $22,000.

Well if someone only got 22K for a 2001 then this sucks! I still owe quite a bit more than that so it looks like the L and I won't be parting for some time. I do have the X-Plan and they always have those incentive deals so maybe that will help a bit.

A note to anyone thinking of leasing, try not to lease for more than 2 years. I have leased 4 vehicles in my young life and all it has brought me is grief! Thanks for the input.

There is actually no point in leasing unless you have a small business or some other way to write the cost off your taxes. It may cost a little less than buying in the beginning; but, at the end you own it, with a lease you get nothing but a mileage bill.

If you can't afford to buy it outright, don't lease, buy something cheaper. Leasing just makes more money for the dealership and finance company.

SlvrnBlckF150,
I totally agree with you now! If only I could have your words of wisdom 2-3 years ago! I was young(er) and pretty impulsive and I guess I am paying for it now! Well one bright side to this, I am stuck driving a pretty nice vehicle for the next 6-9 months not some pinto or something! Thanks.

well if you must trade (why not sell it outright) I'm sure your dealer can give you almost whatever you want for it. $23k, $24k why not $28k they will just then try to hide it by stacking your new purchase to get you even more upside down.
