traded my L

Today I am trading my 01 L and my 02 C-5 for a 02 HD F-150. I know I must be crazy, but I needed to economize IE: get rid of a payment or two. I love the comfort of the HD versus the L. These are the type of seats the L should of had to begin with. I hate to say it , but I hate the seats in my L. Way to uncomfortable for long trips. Now I have the comfort and most importantly the WHINE I love. Now I have a good reason to MOD, this beautiful Grey L wannabe, If any of you want my L with <8500 miles you can own it today for $28K or if you prefer you can have an 02 C-5 with 3500 miles on it for 38,500. I guess I better go clean them out now. Both of my trade4s will be at Freedom Ford in Clearwater this afternoon.

That's too bad... Hat eto see someone leave to "good side".

One of the main reasons I decided to buy the L was because the seats were more comfortable than any I have ever sat in. Needless to say, I'm suprised to hear someone complain. I owned a 98 Tahoe, 00 Expy (for 3 months since it was in the shop more than I drove it) and now my L, and my L is by far the most comfortable fitting vehicle I have EVER sat in... plus, the whole being quick is a nice bonus FYI - I thought the L would suck for comfort b4 I tried it out, because I can't fit into any sports car, as I'm too big... 6'5" 325lbs... I thought for sure the L would be too small... nope, just right... I can even more the seat forward an inch... which is a first!

irbchman, sad to see yah divorce the L, but at least you are going with a close relative!? You aren't from Alabama are you?

You have good taste in vehicles...Identical to my wife and I!! Man I couldn't imagine being without my 00 coupe and my L! But I totally understand the droping of a payment! It was such a relief to get my Vette paid for! But the seats in my L are MUCH more comfortable to me than my Vette!

Beefcake....what's wrong with marrying a cousin...if she's cute

Sad to you see you leave the "Brotherhood of the L". I am with Beefcake on this one, my seats are the most comfortable I have had and but maybe thats because I am on the hefty side of life.
But the new HD is a nice truck, no doubt..
any truth to the "inbred" comment though?

ha ha

I don't know about the inbred part, but I do know that the toothbrush was invented in Alabama.

That's why it is called a 'toothbrush' and not a 'teethbrush'!

My wife has a question for you. With our similar combo Vette and L, which would you rather get rid of when you start a family? When we need to trade one for a larger vehicle, which one do we trade? If you had to only choose one, what would be your choice?

Good luck on the new ride.

Hey everyone is diferent, I personally love the seats in the Lightning, but the HD seats are nice too.

I know JDM had a 2002 Harley truck in a while back and did some testing on it, so I bet they will have a chip for it real soon. Also most of the mods from the Lightning will fit the HD, so with a few mods, I bet the HD could go allmost as fast as the L.

Good luck, and enjoy that sweet new ride.

dont do it man!

FREEDOM FORD IS A BUNCH OF CON ARTISTS....you can quote me on that one. They will screw you any chance on any penny they can. They screwed me out of 500 bux on my trade in and then lied to my face when i showed them it was wrong. That place has been under crooked management since day one. As soon as they stopped having to worry about earning business they started getting bad. I have a friend as a salesman there. His name is rob and he's about 20 or 21 now. He would be the only guy there i talk to if it was me.... they tried ripping my sister off on a new explorer but she called me down there and i raised hell and she bought a blazer instead ( yeah.. i know..only non-ford in the family ) I told them where to put their explorer..the tires would have blown up anyway. If you can deal with someone else then do so.. just a warning.

btw...these guys had a true blue lightning on the lot that was used with 12,000 miles on it. The guy who owned it got her up to a smidge over 400hp and they marked the truck up to $40,000
I laughed and then the guy said " You would think with that much horse power he would have put on a blower to get a few more."

need I say more? morons

LAWD HAVE MERCY CHILD!!! You would of thought I insulted the seats in your truck personally. Just kidding !! The comfort thing is each to their own I guess. Hell, it ain,t like I am over weight or over 6 Ft. Just couldn't find my comfort zone I guess. I miss the extra HP and chip already!! Soon to be remedied though> I don't think I will dog this one as hard as I did the L. Remember it is a stock suspension , just lowered an inch.
TAKECOVER Now as to the choice between a C-5 and an L, and a Family. First I will say that you won't find me on the Corvette pages. Nice car , just don't like the other owners I have met so far. I would say that the three don't mix. Skip the kids and keep them both. Just kidding. I would say that the L would make more sense, but then again I am biased. Man that is a tough Q i would say keep wichever one you have the most equity in, and good luck with the kid thing ( got twins myself).

Now for the opinion of Freedom Ford. Well all I have to say is We spent 3 hrs at Walker trying to buy a used 2002 HD S/C with 2,900 miles on it and they were convinced I would $36500 for a used truck while in their showroom sat a new black HD for $37,163 and charge me a higher interest rate Etc.. All this while my 02 C-5 sat at Freedom while I tried to Make a "good deal" at "Whatever" Ford. needless to say where my L and C-5 are tonite. Where I will take it for service? I have never dealt with Freedom for service. But I do know that most of their salesmen Except 1 guy named Tim or Ted he knew SVT etc.. are not product educated.

Thanks for all the replies and YES I AM FROM BAMA BABY!! Born Bred and read about. Of course like most folks from down inL.A. you go sommers else ifin you wantin ta make a livin.

Bill

i'll have to agree about the seat issue,, L seets are very very nice,, but harley seats and those king ranch seats too are wonderful as well. In fact the only reason i didn't buy a harley is cause i dont own the bike,, i'd hate to portray an image that i dont really represent, plus,, even with the blower now, regarless of how smooth it looks, it still maintains an older image, not neccesarily something you would see a 22 year old in. I am all for the looks of the truck though, and the added power although i'm a little bummed its an L engine, the added power is what you deserve for the price of the harley. Great interior/looks though,, really makes me wish the L interior had more too it. Even though the L insides are great,,, there could be much more.

irbchman,

Just havin a little fun with you... no harm intended...

Perhaps the seats are meant for a big guy like myself... regardless, I sat in a HD the day I bought my L (sales men wanted me to buy it really bad - bigger comission??). It was a sweet setup... I loved the seats in there also... but one drive in both made my decision pretty easy, as I was looking to buy a "summer toy (with four wheels)".

At 23, a toy's gotta go fast, not just look good... ego thing I suppose......that's why my GSXR's got NOS... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone though...

walker ford had a black 99 black lightning for 24,500. I stopped to check it out because I figured the price would be around 22,00 or so if they were smart. I parked next to it sorta and walked up to inspect her. A salesman aproaches and says " So you want to go faster eh?" I replied , " kinda", I dont like to show alot of interest to sales people. ( used to be one ) The front piece has sum under side scratches and the whole truck has some swirl marks. It had a nice hard bed cover and the interior was suprisingly nice. I started to walk inside with the salesman untill i decided to check out the under side 1st. Good thing i did because there was sooo much rust that the differential had little pieces missing from it's plate. I asked if it came from up north with all the salt on the roads. He says " oh, thats how they all are after all its a 99"
Then I kindly showed him the under side of my 99 and how perfect it is. He just grunted and said "good luck finding one" and walked away. Both walker and freedom ford can eat me. Brandon ford actually is alot better even thoughits farther away. They have a super high inventory and that allows for better prices. Besides almost every saleen and a ton of roushes go through brandon ford. They were the first with the 2001 lightnings on the floor also... just my .02
