Truck Freight - Asked before, but asking again

Im getting my engine shipped in a few weeks and have no idea what company to use? Does anyone have a number to call or a web site or something? I need the engine shipped from NY to CA.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!! 3500 for shipping???? this has got to be wrong?!?!?
The only thing I can think of that I put in wrong wast the weight. How much should a short block weight? I put in 395lbs trying to get it under 400 but it still says rated at 500lbs. Some one please tell me this is not right.

Joe, call one of the large common carriers, such as Watkins, Yellow, etc. I can ship a 10,000 lb. machine from NC to So. Cal for about $1,400 less then that.

If you ship via Common Carrier, make sure it is well protected (crated).

why don't you let sal worry about it , he has done this before , he probally has a deal with a freight Co anyhow. just relax and let it flow

you first thing wrong was your class. you did 500 , without my freight book I believe class 500 is HazMat. your class should be 50-70 at a price close to this. save money and pickup at the center.

I know a bare '69 Vette 427 block crated and weighing in around 250 lbs. (ding ding fight bell), to go from Nevada to NH via Motor Cargo is $400+ .

I read about people using Forward Air. They said it has to be dropped and picked up at the airport. They said good rates.

I talked to sal and he said he has no idea, that he has never shipped anything that big before??? Anyway, thanks for that little lesson on class'. I had no idea what that was so I just put in how much i think it weighed:o . Whats the difference between class'?

When I ship to California I use Roadway Transport, it's the cheapest I've found going to the left coast. I think they get about $170 for a transmission form Cincinnati to LA. I don't really know because I don't pay any shipping myself.
