Yep, all you have to do is pry them out with a flat head screw driver, use a rag to keep from scratching your paint! They also see a special tool to remove those clips, but i got mine out with a screw driver no problem. So, in short you DO need to remove them, and its easy, just close your eyes, breathe and then do it, LOL, lemme know if this helps.---medic

You are right, the instructions say nothing about these rubber fillers. Gently massage the black plastic plugs out. They resemble big plastic screws, easy to push in but a little harder to get out.

Post some pics when you get a chance. Are you installing over the stock grill?

I've got the same job to do, got my second grill today. The first one... we don't want to talk about that.

well, i finished a little while ago. sorry chickinears, i didnt see that you wanted pics till just now. yes i installed it over the stock grille, if you dont, there would be a gap all the way around it.

i think this was all for nothing though, my 01-02 heads and corners will be here by friday. will i have to pull that whole front piece again to swap out the headlights? if so, i will take pics while im doing that.

thanx for the help everyone! this site works real well when people arent b!tching about things!

there is no need to pull the front of the truck off again there r clips that hold the headlight assembles in just pull the clip up and slide the headlight out and to change the corner markers there r little screws (torgue style ) on top that u unscrew and then pull the corner marker out no need to take the truck apart again

FastAsL: see the 2 L shaped black bars in this pic? pull those up and the headlight will slide out.
