???????? on Lightnings

I will be purchasing a Lightning soon. From what I have read in the papers, it seems very expensive to modify these trucks. I see 99's and 00's going for the same price they would have gone for brand new just because they have a chip and intake. There is even a very modified race Lightning for $135,000. How much does it cost to get these trucks into the high 12's? I would like to make my new 02 Lightning that quick when I get it. With out Nitrous, how can I do this cheaply?

A Chip, Filter, & Pulley from your Tuner of choice will put in the 12's, for less than $1000.

$135,000 for a lightning?
what the hell was done to it?
is it a gen 2?

i would say the same thing that Lightning Boy told you. chip, filter, and pulley will get you into 12s with decent traction.

I called the guy with the 135k 99 Lightning and he named off a whole bunch of stuff he did to it. He sounded like he knew his stuff. I don't know that much about engines so I was kinda lost. His add says its 1500 hp Twin Turbo 4v engine that runs low 9's in the 1/4.... Thats sick for a truck!

Anyways, a grand doesn't seem too bad to get into the 12's. I guess that maby tampa has a high demand for Lightnings

Can anyone recomend a good tuner here in florida?

Why the %uck would someone put a twin turbo in a auto that comes standard with a S/C. It sounds to me like that guy was just a frickin idiot that has to much money on his hands. thats just my .02

I have a truck that should run high 12's. i can't get it to though because of traction and the track i run at sucks. I put $700 or so in the engine. It isn't very expensive at all to get the trucks into the 12's. Heres a quote i have heard that holds true "The First 1 second off is $1000 or less the last 1/2 second off is no less than $5000. It might not be that much but you get the idea. Just buy a lightning and put like 1K-2K in it and you will have real fast rig

qball, I will keep your email on file for when I get my Lightning. Thanks for the info

rfat, I have no idea why he did that, probably too much money, but by the looks of the power and speed, it looks to have been pretty effective. His add is in the Tampa Pick-up Trader.

Question: How hard is the pully and stuff to install? Can I do it myself?

Yes you can do it yourself. The pulley is real easyto change.

Effective yes but also effective on the depletion of your pocket book too.

rfat, how much are you selling the muscle cars for in your gallery. I know lots of collectors that would be interested. Send me an email with prices.

If you email me at rfat16@Hotmail.com i can tell you some info on the Cars. I don't need Big Brother lookn in on my conversation. They can link my dealership to my truck and try to void warranty(If i modded my truck, which its not).

that is where we have most of our inventory. The challenger 440 and the AAR Cuda aren't in there yet, but they will be shortly.

The hood is a reflexxion-I think i can get a good deal on another one if someone is interested

Probably the same reason why someone would put a larger pulley on a SC that already has a pulley: to go faster, I guess.

Think of it this way, why bother wasting time and money trying to go (maybe) 1 second faster, when you can waste time and money to go several several seconds faster.
