Best way to launch on slicks?

I was only able to get 1.87 60ft on slicks my first time out friday nite on them, I had no wheel spin and launched at 1100rpm.

I tried leaving at leaving at idle and got 1.94.

I have stock trq. converter...

what should I do, 1500rpm or higher?

Bob

Bob, I heat the ***** up out of my ET Streets, and I was pulling 1.83-1.84 short times all day yesterday at a track that is not known for traction (Milan). I leave from idle and am at full throttle by the time my door is at the tree. I get very little if any wheel spin.

If the track will hold it, torque it up to 1500 and roll agressively in too the gas

I am on hoosiers and I heated the hell out of them, smacked my rev limiter I am sure. The track seem to hold 1100 rpm pretty easily. So I will bump it up a lillte bit next time.

With the stock converter and ET's you should be able to hold it at 1500rpm's and just hammer the throtle when its time to go. I did this with my F-1s and got 1.88 and 1.90 60fts. You should be able to do better.

I don't think you have to Heat the Hoosiers as much as M/Ts. If you see white smoke they are hot enough.

Launch at 1500..........how much air??

Bob,

This is what I do to get my best 60 foots. Pull up to the water, roll tires over in first move up alittle, put the truck in second, burn out in 2nd till you see smoke, let off the brake, burn out towards the line, stage @ 1000rpms, time to go MAT IT!!!! I do this with 14.5psi in the tires and get get 1.6x's on the Hoosiers with the stock stall & caltracs.

ICULOKN, How tight do you run your caltracs? I'm new to slicks and traction bars also.

I leave just alittle gap between them and the leaf spring. Just a tad I guess...
