at my friends house, i pull up in the street and park half on the lot and half in the street, when i get in, he says u might get hit, it has happened before, so i throw him the keys and he moves it all the way on his lot, later that night, when im leaving, i see if i go straight back ill go through a shallow ditch, so im gonna pull forward a bit so i can turn and move so i can line up for the drive and so i dont tear up the lawn to much, well a concrete flower garden trim is about 2 feet from my bumper and low enough so i cant see it from the drivers seat, facia runs over the concrete and when i back up gets hooked and rips the cover .. my own stupid mistake, will teach me to look what im parked in front of..
also anyone know if the manufacture and or name of my lower grill, i bought it used and need a new one now if i go with the L stock cover
clonetek: diff a way my wife would want me to go, but......not the prefered way by myself..

Ouch...
The fordpartsonlune price sounds pretty good - Ford list price on the part is (or was) $325 back in July when I had my front cover fiasco. Another thing to consider - what model year is your truck? The reason I'm asking is that Ford has updated the part for the '01-'02 trucks (part number XL3Z17D957BC, and there are additional parts that would need to be ordered for the '99 and '00 trucks (been there, done that). The part is called a Bumper Repair kit (part number 1L3Z17E994-AA) that includes new brackets for the sides of the cover. The old brackets don't work. It also changes the mounting points for the fog lights.....
Best I remember, the repair kit is about $45.
Hope this helps, and good luck.

Not sure if you've considered this, but you could actually have that repaired. My sister got hit in her mustang and cracked the front plastic, and we removed the whole front piece, took it to a body shop, and they plastic welded it. Some sanding, a little primer, some paint, and it looked like new. They only charged us $30.00 to weld the plastic.
Something you might want to consider........

i dont know if silver has the same prob but on my white 2001 L u can see through the paint around the fog lights to the plastic.like they missed some paint. I told my dealer and they are getting me a new piece. If i was you id check to if the paint was missing like mine.If so tell ur dealer theve owed you front bumper piece to start with. its worth the try.
