Safety concern about plugs
I am going to purchase a 4# pulley and have my chip burned for that, but I was wondering about plugs.
I'm wondering how safe are the stock plugs with this combo? (I know that buying plugs are cheap insurance and I will probably buy new ones anyway, but I've read that they are a PITA to install)
Also, what other brand of plugs do you suggest besides the denso's? Or, are they the best bet?
TIA,
Brett

I asked the same question yesterday on a different thread and everyone told me that is was a BAD idea to run stock plugs with more boost.
They suggested Denso IT20's for 2lbs, IT22's for 4lbs and IT24's for 5+ lbs...
I ordered my IT22's earlier 2day... 2 weeks out though

Denso Shemso,, get NKG tr6's and you'll be safe And save a lot of money,,But yes get the stock plugs out.. Some of my stock plugs were loose,2 were Carboned uo pretty bad..The Motor only needs a good spark..
Under normal driving conditions, alot. I would say up to 100,00. Racing and using octane boosters and racing fuel, you may want to change them more often or at least look at them. If your chip is tuned correctly than you shouldn't have any problems. If your running lean than you can melt the ends, to rich they will foul. My truck is a daily driver and I'm running a 6 pound pulley with a chip and open filter. I run 100 octane fuel for racing. I have been running the NGK TR5 gapped down to .038 for 6 months now and have had great luck. I ran a set of TR6 for a few weeks until they fouled out so I went to the 5's. It all depends on your tuning and driving habits.
