Racing Question??

There is a guy that lives about 20 miles from me that just bought a new Chevy with a 5.3 V8 in it. It is Yellow with some black racing stripes so im assuming that it is some Special Edition. Word has it that he wants to race me. I have a new 2002 Silver Lightning (bone stock). They guy claims that all he has done to the truck is a Air Filter System. I know thats a lie because they said he was beating everyone last wk-end pretty bad. My question is: Is there anything that he could have done to this truck that could make him be as fast as me?? My guess is....he has chip and air filter system.

Also, What is the best way to take off in the L. This would be my first real race since i bought the truck. I know it has alot of wheel spin if you just step on it. Thanks guys, for any help!

Go to the TRACK ... Practice ... Then invite him to go
with you. Run where it's safer and you are only endangering
the two of you and not the general population ...

No worrys

Even if he has a supercharger under the hood, he wont touch you.
I recal a short box 5.3L with a sc that only ran low 14's.

Off the line, just ease your foot 1/4 of the way. Then mash it.
See ya Silverado.
Have fun

O,yea who was he beating? Full size 4x4's

I've had success on the stock F1's holding the brake and bring the rpm's to about 1200, then at launch just let off the brake and when the speedo hits 10mph mash the gas! you still might get a little spin when you mash it, but not enough to loose to any non-heavily modded truck out there. You shouldn't have any problems with the chevy... though I hear those racing stripes add like 40 rwHP...

Lingenfelter supercharged a 2001 GMC Sierra C3 ext cab pickup. All wheel drive. If I'm not mistaken I believe it ran a 12.9... 4.6 0-60... It was in Car and Driver last November or October I think...

Also, the Dodge SRT-10 is coming out soon, though for an estimated 52k I think. It's got a 500hp viper engine and 6 speed manual viper tranny in it. They say 0-60 is 5 seconds (WTF? can't hook up??) 12.9 in the 1/4... cornering is where it shines though.. .92g and 70 mph in the solomn... that's better than a ZO6 corvette!!!!!!!!!!! also, stock 24" wheels - friggin huge...

He may get into the 14's with a 150 shot of NOS or with a blower, which, you have nothing to worry about as you're a good 13.8 second truck stock. No worries, make a bet with him for $100 or whatever, just tell him if you find out he has more mods, bets off.
