Question Factory Tech Valve Body

I installed a factory tech valve body this weekend. From what ive read on the board i was expecting whiplash. however this did not occur. the shifting is firmer but im not ordering a hans device yet. Is this because i dont have a aftermarket chip? A friend with a L has both. when his truck shifts his truck jumps. my L is only two weeks old. But ive also read the factory tech doesnt recommend a chip.

A chip will do it ALOT of justice, Factory Tech recommends not to have Just a chip to make shifts harder. Get the valve body with a medium shifting chip and you will LOVE it!!!

Dont worry so much about that. The big improvement of the valve body is that the shifts are very quick now. If you drive along at regular non boost speeds you can still feel a good firm shift,, this is something i've been looking for since day one. Once you get more "go fast" mods you will notice an even bigger increase in shifting. I've heard video footage of people squealing tires between gears,, thing it was Beefcake who posted it. The thing is that most people really dont want "whiplash" Talk to Tallimeca about that. I've found that the factory tech valve body is very responsive to shifts for me,,, i find myself wanting to drive faster so my truck will shift up to 4th gear between lights. Just love the feel of it.

Whiplash? The praise that's been doled out for this product has been for it's firm, but non-violent, shifts. I love mine.

Catch me if i'm wrong,, i beleive his only issue was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear,, most likely had to get his chip retuned.

Question

So how do I get one of these V.B.'s and what is the price. I wanted to play with my tranny when I had it out for the converter but decided not too. I rebuild them everyday but just didn't have the time to play. Wish I did though. I will install one of these and see how I like it. -Mat-

I put the FT Valve Body in today.

Easy install, nice price, a quailty mod.

As to performance, for me it's perfect. Well mannered around town, gas it from a stop and nice 2nd gear chirp, 2nd to 3rd very nice firm shift, even the shift into OD is alot better!

All this and it even improves the life of your trannie!

Factory Tech has one of the best mods I've done so far.

Thanks to Sal @ PSP for getting it to me!

But ive also read the factory tech doesnt recommend a chip.

I think what FT said was he didn't recommend/like the way/method our chips firm up the shifts. The chip raises the pump ouput and this increases the trans temp and puts more stress on the pump------If I remember correctly.

da da da da da WHIPLASH!!!!

Sorry, had to throw some old metallica in there!!!

My 1-2 shifting issue isn't a valvebody issue. It's a tunning issue. Fortunately I have just the awesome people to fix it. Been going 2 weeks now and it seems to have loosened up a bit.......but it was violent.......not just firm. Whip seemed to have the same issue when he had his line mod first installed around the same time, and we have similar tunnings. If your on the throttle there's no problem......squealing the tires into second is quite a surprise the first time It's when your taking off under light throttle and especially if you back off right before or as it shifts......you'll get that "oh my god i just got rearended". Gonna give it another week or two and see what happened. Maybe the valve body has a bit of a break in to react with the tunning........who knows. I let Don (Don's Bolt) take it for a ride and he thought it was kinda harsh.....but he said some of you guys might friggen love it. Oh yeah......in return i got to take his beast straight off the JDM presses for a spin........ He should be wearing safety restraints driving that. Go Don and JDM!!!

FT addresses chips and pressure in this thread (at least I thinkd this is what LIGHTNINROD was referring to).

I installed a Transgo shift kit in my L 2 years ago. I had no other mods at the time and I could tell that the shifts were much crisper after the mod. Last Friday I installed redrider02's Factory Tech valve body. I did everything per instructions. Even measured how much fluid was drained out so I put the same amount back in. I then took his truck for a ride with my son along. I was not happy with the shifts at all. Could hardly notice much of a difference. I also helped install a Transgo shift kit in my brother's Magnacharged F-150 one week earlier. I drove this truck yesterday and couldn't believe how crisp the shifts were. I am not trying to start anything or promote any product over another. I think Factory Tech's work is probably second to none. Maybe there is something wrong with redrider's L. Maybe it needs some more miles put on it. It had a little over 500 miles on it when I did the install. I have never rode in anyone else's L with the valve body mod. Maybe this weekend I will be able to. We are renting a track for 3 hours. Hopefully someone there can let me try there's out. Any other ideas out there?

Its good to hear someone had a good experience with a Trans Go kit. I have one and do not like it. I feel no difference over stock.(this kit is in my work truck not my lightning) As for my Lightning I use the Factory Tech kit and love it!
