She's Going In....(GULP)

Ok, here's the deal: Under my right tail light, the actual fiberglass has a wee crack in it about 1inch long. I talked to Ford and after the service manager saw it, about 3 days later, they tell me that they will repair it under warranty (I stated i didn't hit anything, it must've been a stress fracture or something and it worked )

My L goes in 8am tomorrow....Any of you guys that have had Ford paint your truck or do body work, have they matched it right? I am a little freaked out that they're gonna be sanding and painting- IT BETTER MATCH..........clear-coat and all......GOD I AM NERVOUS............ How have your experiences w/ Ford body shops been?

When I first bought my truck, the bed had all sorts of scratches in it and I didnt want to take it if it wasnt fixed. They said they would give me a free bed liner or have it painted. I choose to have it repainted and it came back flawless. I was very happy it.

I dont' think you have a thing to worry about. I had my tailgate and left quarter panel painted at the dealer when I bought the truck and it matched perfect. Mine's silver which is harder to match than red. I have tried to get people to see the difference and they can't, neither can I.

Don't be nervous about it, just tell the shop manager that you expect it to match perfectly and he'll most likely assure you that it will.

When you pick it up, drive it around, stop and look at it, under different lighting angles, and if it's not perfect, kill the sumbich!

Really, dont' worry, red matches easy.

00FIRERIDE,

I just had my 02 come back with only 150mi on it..it had a small chip around 3 inches long on the passenger side. I told them if they couldnt blend it to just repaint the whole thing...he stated to me that he wouldnt even try to blend it, that it will be repainted. Came back 110% perfect..flawless. Its silver metalic so its very hard to blend. He gave me the keys and no paper work, I left very happy from a Ford Dealership body shop. I worried like you, but hey if it does come back looking like crap (which I doubt), tell them to do it again.

I took my wife's car to a Ford body shop after an accident. They did a great job of blending in the new paint to match the old. There was no body work involved (the hood and front fenders were replaced with new ones) but the paint job and panel alignment was excellent. The quality of work will no doubt vary from shop to shop though.

Thumbs down

I had my bumper cover repainted. They did a ****ty job of taping off my foglight and that has a nice black patch on it and there is primer overspray all over the front of the truck. It is great! Don't let me get you worried the paint work looks great but the covering of other things sucks. But as some1 already said each shop is different. -Mat-

How about a key scratch?...should I go to Ford repair shop or some other auto repair shop? Does FORD give their customers a good price on repairs? Thanks for the help.
