G-tech ET/MPH results

There is no drag strip around here, but I do have access to an old abandond airport landing strip. So I recently bought on of these G-Tech meters and found out that my poor ole Lightning don't run worth a darn AVG. 14.48 @ 100.3??

The temp was 75 degrees low humidity and low winds (4 - 6 mph)

The elevation is approx. 4700 ft were I live here in Texas. Does anyone know how to correct these numbers or would I even need to ?

Your help with this is greatly appreciated

Ya consistancy

qball2439,
FOUR runs back to back:
1 -- 14.50 @ 100.1

2 -- 14.48 @ 100.3

3 -- 14.45 @ 100.4

4 -- 14.43 @ 102.3

I'm going to have to make a drag strip run some day. It just seems to me, that the speed the truck is turning, the ET would be quicker.

the consistancy is there, is the ground level(it's a runway so I am assuming it is) I am thinking it's a combination of g-tech inaccuracy and weather (although the trap speeds are high and et's are high too which could point to traction issues)

Traction is not too bad...

...Spinning 10 to 15 feet at the GO promt.:o Anyway's I'm going to check the performance again, later this afternoon.

Another notible mention is, the Horsepower reading was just under 300 for five consecutive runs. I may simply have a weak engine?

If it says 100mph, then your truck is not weak. Unless it's heavily modded. AND def. NOT under 300hp if it runs 100mph.

ELEVATION is a BIG factor.

Mine only ran 97mph stock...so don't despair.

15ft of spinning will make your et slower...but your mph a little higher.

on dry road I can launch with NO wheel spin what so ever! my truck must be weaker than yours I do have to roll out a foot or two before i go WOT but like i said no spinning. On a wet road I can still get a 5.2 0-60 (80 deg outside temp) I was playing last night on the way home.

What kind of 0-60ft are you getting?

If it's a G-Tech time I wouldn't take it to seriously. You need to get to the track and compare both times. I remeber one guy, I won't mention his name, came here claiming 12s with a stock 2001. He later confessed to giving G-Tech times and was pretty much laughed, ridiculed, insulted, booted out of the community, or at least I haven't seen him posting since. R/S Dennis

Correct what numbers? Your G-tech or altitude numbers? I took my G-tech to the track with me....... I ran a 13.11@106mph track time and on that run, my Gtech said 13.21 with 110mph. The times are very accurate but not the mph. Your altitude is killing your times.

Post For what it's worth....

I had my G-tech at the track with me one time. I was in my 1987 Buick Grand National(Not fast yet). Track computer said Et was 13.79....G-tech read a 13.77. I don't remember what the exact MPH was but I remember it was 7MPH faster on the G-tech then what the track computer said. So I know my G-tech is right there with the ET's. But then again my friends car ran a 14.9 on his own G-tech and then his best run was a 15.4 at the track. I guess it all depends on if you got lucky like I did and got an accurate G-tech or unlucky like my friend and got one that is way off. Either way don't give up on your Lightning. Throw some go fast parts on it. HeHe. Goodluck. -Mat-

Thanks for the reply's

Oh well...Even if this old work truck of mine ain't the fastest Lightning, it's still the most fun vehicle I've ever owned. If there were no warantee issues and all the hassle, why I prolly would have already have installed LT hedders -- 2500 stall converter -- a level 10 ETC...

On the G-Tech runs from zero to 60 were all @ 6.++. I really did not pay that close attention to this attribute.

My G-Tech was dead on ET wise with my Mustang......

One thought on your friend SVT F150, Some people can hook thier cars on the street but have a hard time hooking on the track.

I was wondering if a G-tech factors in rollout on the ET,if not that could be the difference in actual ET and G-tech ET.Just curious.

This same topic was discussed a while back on the Sy/Ty board, if my memory serves me correctly most people that had used the G-Tech found that, while it may not always be accurate, it was really consistant. They would go to the track and compare times to find out how much difference there was between the track time and the G-Techtime, then they would just use the G-Tech to see how much their mods were helping.
