How will this sound system sound???

2001 Lightning

2 Solo baric square L7's (10's) Wanted 12's but they said no way thats gonna fit.

Kicker amp (800 watt or something I think)

JVC headunit.

Capacitor

And all other stuff that needs to hookup.

I really dont care about the stock speakers so Im gonna put bass blocker, all I'm really looking for is a lot of bass. All this installed plus box build and everything for 1600? So you think it will be enough bass?

I already had something similar. I would go to a single 10L7 in a ported box, lose the JVC head unit and go with Alpine or Eclipse. And for the door speakers, get 3 way components.

Well enough depends on what you consider enough. Some think 1 sub is enough and some think two is nuts, for me 3 is almost enough, but it could more for those days when you want to go nuts.

sounds like a good system, but I would swap out the stock speakers before I would even add any subs.

Here are two pics of my old set up, they are 10L7s in a sealed box with 1.0cf per driver.

This is my new set up with a single 10L7 in a ported box. It hits just as hard and sounds cleaner. Excuse the crappy wiring and amp rack. They are only temp.

WaveBlaster785: i don't have specific measurements on the box, but they came out to .88 cubic feet in each chamber.. thats what the L7's need for minimum air. i don't know if the L5's need different air space.

i took the carpet/trim off the back wall and gained about an inch of extra room for the box.

i have a ZX600 running the subs at 2ohm mono. 1200watts!
it's hit 140+ on a DB meter. more than enough to make your ears ring for a couple of hours.. lol

2000F250V10: no problemo.. i'll be glad to help ya. i'll try to remember to carry the phone with me while i mow the yard in the morning.

the "amp" in the middle is actually a 15 farad capacitor, but my headlights/interior lights still dim a little.. cant really tell cause at full volume everything is kinda blurry from my head shaking.

Lightbulb Think about your mids and highs too

Think about upgrading your mids and highs too, maybe something like a 3 way speaker and amping them too, then it will really sound great. you'll have a nice all around system not just a loud strong bass straight from the ghetto, DOG...
Just my 2 cents ...

don't be a cheap punk!!! At least put a decent pair of 6x8's in front doors, I would suggest components.

The 2 solobarics will be loud and will without doubt cover up the rear speakers, and will overpower the front speakers enough so that it won't be a great sound. Remember there's mid's and high's in music also.

We'll talk more when I see you.
