Hypertech power programer

I was looking through my lattest mm&ff and saw this add for hypertech power programer . It says you just plug it to the diagnostic port under the dash. Has anybody used this on the L's. it says it has one for these truicks.

This is a great question! Especially if this can give SOME gain but not be detected like a traditional tuner chip. The truck can be put back in "stock mode". Any reply's?????

I had one with my F-body's...

There are alot of limits on what you can do with it. They burnt me a couple of chips for mine that increased the things you could do. It may be a nice thing... I dont know??

I posted this a couple of months ago..

Sorry but I son't know where the original post is now, you might be able to get it with a search, or try NLOC I post there also.

Best of my knowledge is that everyone like using chips better, and that HyperTech is letting a couple of L owners try it out.

Good Luck, so it come down to SEARCH

Later...

I have one in mine now. Noticed little to no difference. Surely not worth the $350.00 I paid for it. Hope this helps.

Why in the world would they sell a performance mod that offered little or no performance increase? I went to their website and saw the 2001 L listed, but was unable to pull up the dyno sheet. I'll bet they claim 10-20 hp, along with the ability to increase tranny line pressure. Hard to believe that would not be noticable.

I had one in my Z28 and it added two tenths to my time. I ran a 14.2 stock and a 14.4 w/ the programmer. I used it to firm up shifts, remove top speed limitation, optimize fuel and timing(which did nothing in the Z), and correct for my gears. I removed everything but the gear and top speed limitation and I ran a 13.8. I would not purchase one for a Lightning. It's good to for adjusting gear ratio's and that's about it. A chip is a much better choice if there is one available for your vehicle. Back in 96, it was the first year of OBDII in the Z28 and that was the only option.

Smile hypertech

Tthis is the answer i got in the mail today from hypertech, you be the judge,i told them i was leary of using one ,this was the answer hypertech provided me,i am sitting on the fence on this one. they are refering to a 2001 L.

We gained 28 hp and 40 tq at the wheels and that is a real good gain. Some customers don't think realistically and assumes it will be like nitros. Generally when we have a customer that doesn't feel our power gain some other type modifications like after market mass air flow sensors, other mfg's tuning devices etc that can't be used with our tuning. Don't believe everything you read on the net, it's not a good source. Our Dyno charts don't lie and we guarantee our power gain. Thanx: confused:
