is it okay to patch a drag radial?
is it okay to patch a drag radial?
my local track has that grey crushed rock in the pits to park on, and on my way up to the staging lanes, i must have run over a sharp piece. it put a small hole in the middle of the tire.
my question is, would it be safe to patch it and use again?
i am jobless right now, and can't afford to buy a new set of tires.

I have a job and cannot afford to buy drag tires.
Personally, I wouldn't risk my neck and truck to a patched tire on a racetrack.
I got a sharp rock cut on one of my F1's. The tire shops will not patch it. It is maybe a 1/4" cut. They will not do it as of the liability involved......and it being a Z rated tire.
I'm running my spare right now...........until I can afford a new tire.

If you do a patch the right way,There will be no problem.I had patches in 2 of my f1s and never had a problem up to 140 and all...............Oops that was stupid...........but anyway,I dont see a problem if done correctly.
I know on motorcycle tires that when you patch a tire (from the indise) that the tire manufacturers say the speed rating is dropped to 85mph.
On a personal note, I have run and seen many tires run over 85 that are patched with no failures.
I think the tire makers are just covering their butts.
