attn. all AZ lightning owners
first of all thanks liteuup, and i hope to talk to you monday.as for the 12.8 which started at the pavillions was actually a 12.9 that got turned into a 12.8 but anywaise.that came from a chip,filter-k&n,et streets, and a throttle body.and again my aftercooler is no diffrent then your "inter-cooler" just bigger.as for the torque converter that was only the second time at the track.first time didnt go to well those et streets will only hold so much.thats why i have the hoosers and they work great, which helped me to my 12.7 last night.still not seeing a hole lot actually verry little from the converter.like i said programing helps it is all about trial and error, which seems to be working well for me.know the mph issue goes like this my sliks are smaller than the o.e. tires "239-45-18" so therefor the mph is going to be slower but you probly allready knew that.well thanks again i enjoyed this and look foward to talking to you soon "liteuup".oh the exaust everyone was informed about it i even saw i believe one of weedos buddies looking at i . by the way it is 4in.
bronco-matt, I’ll give you that I'm not the best typist or speller in the world, but there are great spell checkers out there. Of course a spell checker wouldn't have caught your butchering of our tire size - it's a 295/45-18. I still can't believe a (ex?) tire salesman like you would screw this up so bad. Anyway, my question is how the heII does the tire circumference change the mph you run at the track? Are you trying to say you would have run faster if you had the stock size tire?
I can’t wait for your answer on this one.

GREAT NITE AT FIREBIRD. NICE MEETING UP LINEUUP. AS FOR THE TIMES GO THE 95 BLACK LIGHTNING RAN A BEST EVER 12.22 AT 110 MPH. 1.701 60 FT. MATTS WHITE LIGHTNING RAN A BEST EVER OF 12.72 AT 104.XX MPH. THE NEW MODS SEEM TO BE WORKING. THE TRACK CONDITION WAS NOT THAT GREAT AT FIREBIRD. BY THE END OF THE NIGHT ALL SLICK CARS WERE ONLY ALOWED TO RUN IN THE LEFT LANE. LOTS OF CLEAN UP TIME FRIDAY NIGHT. TO LET EVERYONE KNOW MPH USUALLY SLOWS DOWN WITH SLICKS ON. THE SLICKS STICK TO THE TRACK MORE CAUSING A LOWER MPH OR A NEED FOR MORE HP. SOORY BY THE WAY THE WHITE LIGHTNING 60 FT WAS 1.748. A LOW TRACK ET WITH A LOW MPH IS A EFFECIENT RUNNING VECHILE. IT MEENS POWER IS BEING TRANSFERED TO THE GROUND. WE RACE OUR VECHILES FOR THE FASTEST ETS NOT MPH. THAT IS QUARTER MILE DRAG RACING. SO TO ME A HIGH MPH DOES NO GOOD FOR ME. AND BY THE WAY MATTS TRUCK DID NOT GET SPANKED BY NO SS CAMARO. THE CAMARO MIGHT HAVE MORE TOP END BUT NOT ENOUGH FROM THE HOLE. ALTHOUGH HE DID NOT HAVE NEER ENOUGH TOP END FOR OLD BLACKY. AS FOR STREET RACING GOES THE DRAG RADIALS ON MATTS LIGHTNING ARE SOOM PRETTY AWESOME WORKING STREET TIRES SPINS ABOUT 2 TO 3 REV AND GOES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. NO COMPARASSION TO THE FACTORY GOODYEARS. THANKS TO EVERYONE AGAIN FOR A GREAT NIGHT AT THE TRACK

kj, you disappoint me. I think it was Carroll Shelby who said, “You can never have too much HP”. I know it’s harder to go much quicker with out it. As I wrote earlier, traction management is the problem. First you must create horsepower – then you find a way to harness it. You’ve certainly done this with your ’95. I agree that a low ET and low mph is an example of an efficient drag car, but don’t tell me you wouldn’t then want more mph – wouldn’t that same efficient running vehicle give a lower still ET? I’m not an “expert” with my name on the side of a $40K trailer, but are you trying to say a vehicle will simply slow down when you add slicks – you know it isn’t that simple. Better traction “might” cause the motor to accelerate slower out of the hole, but ET is not only about those first precious 60 feet. More HP will reduce that ET the rest of the way down the track.
Don’t take this wrong; I have the utmost respect for what you’ve done with your ’95 L. I accept and appreciate that drag racing is a major part of your life - heck I’ve never been to the track and you weren’t there. I understand that ET and RT rule in the life you lead. MPH may not be your primary goal – but having more HP (more MPH), and in turn, quicker ET’s - is one of the exciting parts of the game. In my life, I don’t have a desire to invest the time and money to solve my traction management problem. I’m personally satisfied with this compromise. It’s a deliberate choice. I spend the majority of my seat time on the street, and I’m fulfilled with a stoplight-to-stoplight dash (even if it is by myself @ 5:00am on my way to work). Then there is the occasional trip to the strip with my friends and colleagues for MPH bragging rights. In fact, my group of friends - over 90 active participants - gathers at least once a year for those MPH bragging rights. The Friday night dynamic dyno a few times a year keeps the enthusiasm alive for me and my enlightened friends.
Peace….. Joel

I AM SORRY I DISAPPOINT YOU. BUT WHEN DID QUARTER MILE DRAG RACING BECOME A TEST OF MPH. LAST TIME I RECALL IT WAS THE FASTEST TO THE END WINS NOT HIGHEST MPH. I DONT SEE WARRREN JOHNSON AND HIS PRO STOCK FREINDS RACING FOR MPH. GRANTED A HIGH MPH IS GOOD BUT DOES NOT GUARANTEE FIRST TO THE FINISH. SO MAYBE WE NEED A MPH TRACK THAT IS LIKE 1/2 MILE LONG OR SO IF WE WANT MPH.
AGAIN SORRY TO DISSAPPOINT YOU. BUT THAT IS DRAG RACING.
NOT MPH RACING.

So what does everyone say we have some fun with the Lightnings and try to plan a night when we all head out to Firebird to run. One thing, let's make it fun without talking trash. I don't see it that we're out there for bragging rights to beat other Lightnings. Now, if we are going to talk trash, let it be to the Vette/Camaro/etc owners. I did that 2 Fridays ago with a guy i beat in a 2002 Z28 with some goods. We had fun with it though, joking around. A little "I'll never get beat by a Ford" and then after beating him letting him know he not only got beat by a Ford, but a TRUCK!!
So, everyone put their d*cks and rulers away and let's set up a Friday night for some Lightning fun!! Sissy or Little Boys night as it's called!!! (sorry, had to get that one in there...

SOUND LIKE A PLAN WEEDO. WE CAN EVEN DO A SATURDAY NIGHT SOON IF THAT WORKS BETTER FOR ANYONE. I THINK THE FIRST SATURDAY RACE IS ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY. MAYBE WE SHOULD START A NEW POST FOR THIS AND CLOSE THIS CRAZY ONE OUT.
kj, I think you misunderstood what I meant. Re-read what I wrote above and this time read a little between the lines. I respect and appreciate what you’ve done. You disappointed me in that you don’t seem to accept that MPH is a true measure of performance - that you don’t appear to respect the way I’m playing the game. That’s fine. I really couldn’t care less what you think about me as a person. I’m very secure in who I am. I just find it sad that your mind would be so closed on this subject. You’re taking it too seriously.

KJ - I'm not sure how many of us know what Sat night is. I know it's Team Firebird and that it's bracket racing, but i'm not sure who would be interested in that. Can we run for fun just like on a Friday night??

Bronco-matt, if you're going to quote times and speed, quote the complete numbers. Is it 104.49 or 105.00? Is it 12.7, 13, or 12.799? If you’re going to brag (and I’m not saying you don’t have right to), try and be thorough and complete.
