Go with 2 CLEAN (and expensive) subs, you won't be sorry. Don't worry about getting thumped out. We're not talking about 15" Cerwin Vegas that were great for college parties. Also make sure you run a nice, clean amp as well. I run 10's and love the sound. I've checked outside of the truck and you won't hear me coming down the road, just nice, tight, and clean inside.
Go with one of the new JL audio 10 inch w7's. If you get one of those and a big anp your truck will rock pretty good I would saw. The W7's are new so they might be hard to find, but they are awesome subs! a phoenix gold ZX400 amp should be enough to power that sub and that way you can add the LPL that will allow you to adjust the bass with an extra *** you can mount anywhere.

If you want a very inexpensive solution that will fit with no problem whatsoever in our trucks,, try to go with the jl10w0's,, just enough bass to get a massage whenever you need one, and sound great when listening at normal levels. The 10w0 is more of an accurate sub for a relatively cheap price, should be able to get them for somewhere around 120-130 for both subs combined. Plus you will not need to o broke on an amp,, a ppi pcx280 amp should do, that will run you about $340,,, i would never go cheap on the amp,,, cheap amps will make everything you have sound like crap. Also i would buy from a car stereo dealer that you trust,, that way if you blow a sub or an amp, they'll be right on it to get it fixed,, many times if you do good business with them and treat them well, they'll even do labor on amp fixes free of charge. You can build your own boxes sealed which will fit easily,, specs for any sub you should be able to find on the maker's websight, they will list total cubic feet of air you need to make the sub sound right ( this is with the size of the speaker subtracted out already so you dont have to do any math except for one volume calculation to figure out if your design will work, also make sure your sub wont bottom out on the back of the box, and use mdf fiberboard, sealent to make sure you have a tight seal, and get some carpeting, ( any car stereo place or home depot should have it for cheap ) and glue it on. This is the cheapest way i can think of to sound great

now a couple of those in a box in the bed with a 2foot by 3 inch port into the bottom of the back wall will be ehough to blow your windshield out..
