Lightning Owners that have or have had Mustangs....
I know alot of us on here have had Stangs as well. My neighbor has a 00 GT that we are starting to do some work to. I need some info and/or places to get some parts for it? Anyone have any links? I know JDM has some parts for them... Any forum links?
Only thing so far is a Off-Road Cat H-pipe and flowmaster cat back system. After installing this we got a SES light. I am guessing from the o2's but I need to have it checked...

850-265-9818 phone # Ask for Adam or Mark, tell them
James Harton sent you...They can do it all, from getting him bolt-on stuff, Dyno tuning, or they can build him a custom engine...Like I said they can do it all and they're GOOD!!!
Oh yeah they're sooo busy that they cut their phone answering hours to 10a.m. - 2p.m. central time...so make sure its between the 10 & 2 or they won't answer!!!

Also be sure and talk to the 'Stang guys when you go to the track. I learned a lot when I had my Cobra just by talking to other people.
Hey Richard, sounds like you need the Mil eliminator that many mustang sights sell..usually around $40-$50 . Ive always had great dealings with Excessive Motorsports. They sold me a Powerdyne supercharger (belt Driven piece of crap) and it kept breaking the internal belt....and they told me to send it back and gave me credit towards a Vortech S trim for my 93 Coupe when I had it. Their website sucks...but they have great ads in MM&FF. They were great. They also have alot of performance packages too. Also try Speedworx....great site too.
Mark.

I've been building & racing late model Mustangs as a hobby for the last 10 years, and it wasn't until a year ago that I was converted to the Lightnings. I've run every combo under the sun at some point along the line and here's what I know:
It's all about pressure and time.
The backpressure in the stock exhaust creates a time lag between when the exhaust pulse leaves the cylinder and when it hits the O2 sensor. The EEC-V computer knows how long this should take (given the stock components are used). If the computer doesn't 'see' the right values, then it trips the SES. It also induces a more conservative state of tune, and depending on the severity of the pulse timing delta (change), it may even trigger the 'limp-home' mode. I've had it happen. . .and it's not pretty. More often than not it shows itself as a '_ bank rich/lean limit' code. Sometimes you may get both a rich and a lean adaptive limit code. Depends on what you've done to the car.
A chip can cure this, as can those MIL eliminator modules. Summit Racing sells them.
Oh and BTW- Never tune a car based on something you read in a car magazine. Always consult a tech manual, or at least talk to a tuner before turning wrenches. Those bone heads don't care about you or your car. . .they want to sell magazines and draw in vendors/advertising $$'s. I've had to fix too many cars that were 'magazine tuned'. I'm sure some of you remember the nugget of wisdom that they wrote about "your check engine light coming on if you make over 350 hp." Wow.
Hope this helps you.

I really have to say call Panhandle Performance, talk to Mark. They have done alot of quality work and They are into a 347 Project for me right now. I cannot say enough about them . I have to say come july when our Expy goes bacl on Lease I may have to sell the Lightning and will probally take the Saleen down there for a Procharger and some custom dyno tuning.

I drove a new Cobra with a Novi 2000 and it was nasty fast. I know it would do 11's driven right with a set of slicks. It felt so much faster than my Lightning. It's wierd...11's in a Lightning doesn't feel quite as fast as 11's in the Cobra. It's like the power in the Lightning is so linear you don't realize what you have. Those new supercharged Cobra's are going to be absolute monsters w/ aftermarket parts.
Lessee... I have had a '66, '82 GT, '86 FHP, '86 GT vert, '94 GT, '01 GT, and '01 Cobra, so I guess I qualify.
The Corral is an excellent board, and has links to many manufacturers. Keep in mind that there will be unhappy customers for every vendor out there, but look for trends... Excessive is a definite trend toward fraud and outright theft.
As for the MIL eliminators... the '01s and '02s are VERY sensitive to the rear O2 sensors, even with MILs my GT and Cobra both threw codes with a Bassani catted-X-pipe. Same with several other people I know with '01s, so they may not fix your SES issue.
