All Black L owners...
I got a Look today at a 99 Black L and was looking around the hole truck and asking the guy if he ever drives it.. He was like "yes sir every day".....How Hard is it realy to keep Black as a every day driver to clean and chip free because black is the Best when it's all waxed up and every thing but just wana here it from people that have a Black L cause i have never had a black car or any thing and would like to get Black as a every dayer.... But my dad's last 4 Mustangs have been black and he's like dont get black you will wash it and 2 min later it will be dirty...... So any input would be great thanx guy's.
Does True Blue count also?
Blue is rrreeaaalllyyy hard to keep clean, you clean it one day and the next it is dirty...expect to clean twice a week AT LEAST...
If your not into cleaning get silver or white...
imo

This is my first Black vehicle and I would think twice....for about 2 seconds, then I would by another one.
Yes it is a pain to keep clean. You see every speck of dust. If you live in an area that is dusty or where it rains alot you better really love the black and really like to care for your truck.
IMHO nothing looks like black when it is properly detailed especially at dawn/dusk or when the evening lights are reflecting off it.
I am a fanatic about the paint and I swear by the California duster to remove light dust. I also love the California water blade; cut my washing & drying time in half almost.

I don't think I'd be any different if it was red, white or silver. I can see the dust/dirt so I clean it. I would spend the same amount of time on any color. But if you don't take care of the others they'll look crappy too.
I agree with all the above. That california duster is worth its weight in gold!! I wash mine under a covered car port before the sun comes up fully or when it sets. Otherwise the heat makes it water spot BAD! You also never want to wash it when the engine is still hot.....water spots big time! I usually polish and/or wax mine after each wash just to make sur I get all the water spots off. But still, after I go in the house to get a beer or whatever and come back outside, you can see dust/dirt already settled on the hood!!
You gotta love black to put up with all this, but its proven over and over.........ITS THE FASTEST COLOR!! You can get a "slower" silver or white and stay lots cleaner!
Flame suit is on for you slower colored owners about to torch me!!

Black is like a woman. Great when she is good, but a bitch when she is not. You have to wash early in the morning before the sun comes out, and it is dirty one second after you are done. I would suggest a dust brush and that spray shine stuff every night, and cover it. The wash isn't that bad if you have the proper equipment, and HAVE EVERYTHING READY before you start so it never sits and gets water spots. It is worth it. I know an awesome detailer and am going to have it all buffed up and detailed for the summer.

LOL!
Also forgot to mention, I use a leaf blower after I finish washing it to blow all the water off and get it out of all the nook and crannies. I hate driving down the road, get out at the gas station or whatever, and see water spots blown down both doors from the mirrors and also spots running down from the two side steps on the bed. You all know what Im talking about!

It is true that Black is a pain to keep clean but when it is clean it sure is purrty. I have had two Black trucks (98 Lariat and the L, both daily drivers) and had the chance to get a red L at the same time that I got the black L but just could not resist the look of the black L sitting next to the red one.

Being an Arizona resident, I have to live with the dust on a daily basis. I have no regrets about owning a Black L, however I do wash it weekly, wax it once a month....and daily I use the California Duster. I have no problems keeping it in great condition even being exposed to the constant heat and dust......
Just remember, they all get as dirty and dusty regardless of color, it's just a matter of taking care of em;'

Nothing is more beautiful or meaner than a black L. Mine is sort of a daily driver (everyday it's clear and not raining) and no matter how hard you try it's very difficult to keep clean. I only wash it maybe one a year (never gets dirty) but I dust it with a Cali duster daily then wipe it down with a spray detailer. Wax it once per week using Cherry Wet Wax. NOBODY ever gets to see my truck dirty. A lot of work but well worth it. My next L will be black.
Never had an L, but had a black Charger Daytona once. Beautiful car...for about a minute after washing, towel drying every inch of the car. I would not want another black vehicle after having that one.
Another issue with black that has not been mentioned....the HEAT!!! Lock it up in a parking lot in the summer for a couple of hours and WHEW!, you could bake a cake inside there! Red is almost as bad, though. Black and red absorb almost the same spectrum of light.
white shows the least amount of dirtiness as any.
