Not that happy!!

Well I dropped the L off at the dealer for the seat belt recall and to replace my drivers side window under warranty. I also wanted them to document the "marble in a can" noise. So they kept it overnight so they could start it up completely cold in the morning and told me to stop by on way to work. On my way there this morning, I'm thinking they are either going to say "We didnt hear anything" or "Its normal". I got neither of those responses. I got "We allow for very small tolerances and yours exceeds it. Something is definately wrong and we need to investigate". Now I sucks that I have to go without my L but its good that they acknowledged the issue and are going to do something about it. Thank my lucky stars that I havent installed any mods and the ones I ordered havent arrived yet. To make matters worse, my daily driver (Saturn) has all sorts of coolant system issues and I have to drive around in this 4 cyl. Focus loaner car with dealer stickers all over it. Oh well, I'll let you guys know what the outcome is.

Trashguy,

I noticed one day while putting the window down that an edge of the window that is only visible for a second or two had a 2 hairline cracks in it. It seems to travel no problem. Sorry I couldnt help.

Trashguy,

My driver's side window does the exact same thing. Not all the time, but it does it. I thought it might be the rubber around the window getting hard and not allowing the window to slip into place. It really doesn't bother me yet, but keep me informed on what you do (if anything), please!

It could be worse...I had to drive around in a *** green escort for a week while they did my intercooler! It smelled like an old couple with really bad gas (not fuel) were having nasty sex in it before I picked it up!

Well my dealer called and they found nothing wrong with the truck. They called Ford Engineering and FE said that is was in fact normal and that it will not cause any problem with structural integrity on the motor. At least now they have a record of it just in case something happens in the future.

Smile Window noise

Hey guys I have been installing auto glass for 12 years now. The dealer sublets the glass work out to an actual auto glass company and they come and fix you window.

I have a 99 L and it does the same thing, and mine makes a geared sound while it is on it's way up and down. There is nothing to do about the noise found when the window comes in contact with the rubber at the top of the door frame. The sound is the sudden stop because ford makes the glasses run up and down so fast when it stops at the top it "bangs" into place.

The only window help you could ever do to your truck is to keep the track (part that glass slides in) in the front and back of the door lubed up with wd40 every once in a while to take some stress off your regulator and motor so it will last longer.

Hope this answers any window questions.
