This all was from my bike wreck back on Dec 16th 2001. I am still out of work and recovering....
Basically I was showing off when I shouldnt have been. 100mph on cold tires and a cold road didnt mix to well... My bike lost the Battle, the road one....

Wow, sorry to hear that, I've been there. I was almost killed on my 1995 F3 (which I loved). A guy pulled out in front of me and i was doing about 80 (which i shouldn't have been). I hit him just in front of the rear wheel on the drivers side and barly missed lodging my head into the rear roof piller. I flew forever and the wreck was really loud. I dont remember hitting the ground but I do remember sliding on my belly backwards looking back at the wreck and seeing my bike going end over end in the air. I ended up in a ditch. I remember not being able to stand up or really move my lower body so i thought i broke my back, but i could move my toes. I reached down and felt nothing on my right side and freaked, I thought i ripped my leg off, but it was bunched up towords the left...it was really weird. I cant even describe the pain which hit about 10-15 min later, just before the ambulance got there. I ended up shattering my right hip and pelvis and broke the ball off of my right femur. There wasnt a doctor in my area that would touch it outside of a hip replacment but I was too young (25). So they sent out some kinda notice to doctors around the country or something like that and the doctor that worked on Bo Jackson responded saying that he would give it a shot. Fortunatly he works at the Kirkland Clinic right next to UAB (University of Alabama in Birmingham) in Birmingham which is about an hour and a half from Huntsville. Well, he did an amazing job and put me back together with a plate and 7 screws. I was no weight berring on my right hip for 6 mon and it was almost a year before i really walked again. I started taking steps about 10mon after the accident. Funny thing, while in physical therapy i noticed almost all the excersizes were very similar in motion to an ice skating stride and being a hockey player i immediatly strapped on the skates for a leisurly stroll around the ice. Well it hurt really bad but it was the good kinda hurt, i skated every day and when i went back to see the doctor be couldn't believe my recovery. I told him what I was doing and he said that if i fell i could rebreak it but that he has never seen a recovery going this well before. Today, 7 years later I am almost 100% I play hockey 4 days a week, i Jet Ski in the summer and go about my business without a limp, i do have pain (especially when the weather changes quickly), it pops a lot...loudly but doesnt really hurt when it does and I have been told that i will have arthritus in my early to mid 40's and will be a cadidate for a hip replacement in my late 40's but hey, I'm still here and not paralized which could have very easlily happened.
Sorry for the long post. But you know I was a very good rider, been riding all my life (dirt and street) and I knew that 75% of bike accidents happen when a car makes a left in front of a bike. I also knew that it wasnt a matter if "if you get in one" it was a matter of"when and how bad". I loved riding but i will never get on a bike again.
ICULOKN, hit me on im if you wana chat about it, I really struggled during recovery, had me really down...but then again I didn't have a pimpin L, chillin at the crib!

Be extra aware of that bone's healing! I have had several patients develop not-too-good problems from that. IMHO, your ortho will do good by you to get Xrays of that ankle periodically.
Have you checked on using a bone regenerator to help with the healing?
On my last get-off I dumped the dirt bike and landed on my left shoulder - the same one I landed on 2 yrs prior on the street bike.
Turned out I had fractured off a chunk of my arm bone. Geez, no wonder it hurt every day for 3 months
good luck, man!

Whew!! Sorry to see and hear about ya'lls accidents!! I feel for you two. I had a Kawasaki 1100 Specter and some old lady pulled out in front of me and I chose to lay it down and "slide" into her instead of straight on impact @ 50 mph. I got a bad case of road rash, but other wise ok, I was lucky. Sold the bike two weeks later and havent been on another one.(Its been hard as hell restraining myself!!) I love bikes, but there are too many people out there that dont look for you. Most of the guys I know killed on them were either speeding and couldnt stop quick enough to avoid trouble, or some one pulled out in front of them and says that all too familiar line,"I didnt see him".
Hope you guys make a 100% recovery.
ICULOKN- Put some densos in there and it should smooth things right up for ya!!

WOW!
I thought my crashing into a tree on my dirt bike in about 3rd gear flat out (35-40 mph) messed me up. My right leg was crushed between the bike and the tree. Amazingly enough, I only blew the two ligaments out in my right knee and had 5-6 bruised ribs from hitting the tree. My entire leg from the knee down was one solid nasty black-blue-yellow bruise, lovely. It wasn't bad enough to keep me off of them, hopefully I won't have any of those. Be careful you guys! Good luck in the healing process.
