Talking 02 M3 Put to Shame

Last night i was meeting a few friends at a local highschool hangout around the way. While we were talking about racing and such a nice new 02 m3 was making a left and he decided to jump on it passed us. It really took off once he punched it, i thought that was the end of him so i admired the fly-by at first. As i was going back to talking i notice him turning into the parking lot. He rolls up and asks if any of us would like to race? Being the minority compared to the majority of integras and honda's my friends drive I speak up quickly. "wanna race me?" i reply. The guy asks what i have. I shrug and reply "just a truck" (haha little did he know what kind of truck he-he-he). So we follow one another till we catch a red light. Having heard about the new M3's and their 330 hp and their 0-60 in 4.8 i was in for a hell of a ride. We finally catch up on a nice light. Light goes green, hes on it quickly chirping the tires catching grip immediately, I roll into my accelerator hoping not too much. My truck just sits and goes as i roll into nicely he was about a lil more than half a car length at 40 and i started gaining at 60 once we hit 60 i pulled on him nice and lengthy by 100 i was easily a car length ahead by the time we shut off (about 130's) i was almost 1 1/2 car lenghts. He pulls next to me and we chat for awhile admiring each others rides. Turns out hes only 17 and its his second BMW. I wonder if he knew the price difference between mine and his

2002 M3 - $60,000+ easy
2001 Lightning w/mods $31,000
for 29,000 more i could be the Twin Turbo 9 second Truck wonder LOL

About $50k-$55k unless it was a vert. Not surprised you beat him to 100mph, but I am suprised you were still ahead at 130mph.

Given your mods, this story seems some-what legit. But I think this Boy Wonder in the M3 most likely didn't know what he was doing. Those new M3's are kick a$$ with their 333hp I6. But even with their 269lbs of torque, they're nothing to be laughed at. It's a 13.2sec 1/4 mile timed- naturally aspirated 6cyl. It's a serious machine if the driver knows what he's doing.
One of the reasons it costs more, is due to more thought, performance, handling, etc., that was put into it. If you all read up on it, it's quite the elloborate set up. I would've had one over my Lightning if they were more readily available at the time. But there is still the traditional overpriced-high-end cost on top of the actual vehcile's price that BMW dealers stamp on it. I'd still take of of these over a Z06 though.
Anywho, good race. Nice kill.

It would only take a Z28 with a few good old (cheap) mods to even it up let alone a Z06. 50% of the cost thanks to good old American hot rodding, a much more gratifying win.
