Boost Bypass kit. Where to buy?

Hey guys, I tried searching but it gave me the finger. I was wondering where to order one of those boost bypass kits. I dont just want to unplug it. Just bought the L a few days ago & want to do everything on the up & up. I thought I saw a post about Johnny Lightning Per. having one, but I searched the site & found nothing. Also, I am looking for an open air filter, I know everyone has different opinions as to which one is best, but what I am looking for is which one free's up the sound/scream of the supercharger the best. Has there been a post that members agreed a certain low restriction air filter allowed you to hear the boost the best/loudest? I heard PSP's stacked filter was good for this. Much thanx for your help gents.

If you want to throw away perfectly good money, go right ahead. I bought one, still have it, and wound up just unplugging mine and it works like a champ.

Really, just save the $25 and use it to buy a tank of gas. If you are going to mod your truck anyway, you will need to take things off and clear the PCM befor you take it to a dealor.

As for a filter kit, any open element filter kit will give the S/C the distinctive whine the Lightning is known for. Pick a tuner you are most happy doing business with.

Remove the pink line from the top of the boost control diaphram valve, (not the selenoid valve) and plug it with a 1/4" bolt cut to about 3/4 inch long but that still has about 1/4" of smooth shank so you don't get an air leak, or use a 1/4" hose mender and a 1/4" cap.

Next, get 3/16" Tee to put it into the boost hose that goes into the firewall and up to the boost gauge(there is a white 3/16" hose mender in this location stock). Get 9" of 3/16 fuel rubber fuel line to go from this Tee to the top of the boost control valve.

The result is the computer will no longer have the ability to dump boost at the shift (torque reduction) or as part of the over-rev protection. THe computer will never know and will not throw a soft or hard code. The boost bypass will still be active at idle thru near zero vacume, and closed shut in all boost conditions.

see http://www.ncs-stl.com/Images/BoostMod.jpg

You will be done by noon

Hope this helps

Andy

Do it yourself method

I just did this mod yesterday by going to the auto parts store and picking up the stuff...

Worked great and I didn't have to wait for the mail...

Thanks Dan, my pleasure. It's really hard to get a decent pic of the boost by pass with all the wiring and hoses in the way.

Are there any negative side effects to this mod? What does it do for the L? Did I understand that you could just disconnect it and leave it that way and not have to plug the ends up?

Sorry for all the questions, REALLY new to this.

Hey, just did what awhittle said to do and it cost me like $5 and took 7 min. I could be crazy but my truck seems to have quite a bit more low end pull, could that be?
