Lowering front using different A-arms ???

....I recently installed the Ground Force coils on the front of my L. GF advertised 1" drop....however I actually got 2.75"!! So now I'm afraid that I'm putting too much stress on the stock upper Ctrl Arm spindles. The front tires appear to have a very slight inward tilt, like so: / \ (not quite that bad...but you get the idea)

I haven't taken it in for an alignment yet...will an alignment help alleviate this? Or will I need to replace my stock A-arms? When does it become necessary to use Lowering A-arms on the front (rather than just lowering coils)? Meaning...how much drop will make that necessary? I know that alot of people just use Drop coils for 1-2".....but how about 2.75" for example??

Install cam adjusters?

Hey, did you install some cam adjuster bolts in the Upper control arms? They will get you the desired postive camber you need to push the top of the tires back up into spec's. You can get them at NAPA ....Speedin Bob gave me the part #'s It put my truck back to factory specs....although mine is the Belltech 3" coils. You might want to read my post today before considering the drop lower control arms. Just some info for ya...

Yes...I installed the Cam bolt kit when I lowered it. I just wasn't sure if they would be enuff to regain the proper camber, considering the substantial drop. I've lowered every one of my vehicles in the past (all Cars)....but I've never dropped them more than 2". Therefore I wasn't certain what the threshold was before A-arms were required.

I'm planning on getting it aligned in the next week or so....I'm just waiting on my Herb's Washers to arrive, so it can be aligned properly. There's no point in getting it aligned and then having it go out 2 weeks later (like what happened when I took it to the dealership for their "fix").

Hey Ebbsnflows, since i do not know how much negative camber you really have on your L since your drop...its hard to say whether or not it will bring it back out all the way. But an easy way for you to tell is to adjust the cams on the upper control arms so that they push the upper A arm out as far as possible...then tighten them and reinstall your wheels and see if they are near straight up and down. If what you are saying is true....that it gave you a 2.75" or so drop in the front...you may need some bigger cams on the upper control arms if they make such a thing...LOL. No...but seriously..the adjusters you have in there now should be enough. Some times i wish i was back in the dealership business.....loved doing those alignments . Just installed the 3" drop coils from Belltech on mine and the cams give it more than enough adjustment...can even go positive if i crank it all the way out. But just be sure when you get the alignment that they correct the caster also....since it was definitely messed up when you installed the cams - Mark.
