straight pipes for the lightning
Just my 2 cents on the straight pipes. I ran them for about a week. When I first took my muffler off, the low end power seemed to be increased slightly but as I drove more and more I realized my low end was relativly the same while I lost a ton of top end. When driving on the highway I could punch it at about 80 and felt like a slug. Although it was loud as hell and I got lots of scared looks from pedestrians and the occasional ricey.
Also the L is my daily driver and the morning drive to work was hell on earth. My head was ringing by the time I drove the 20 miles to work.

My straight pipes sounded awesome.
I didn't have the pipes mandrel bent and because of that they didn't flow as good as the Borla I had prior. How do I know that? I lost boost when I put the Borla back on.

I had straight pipes on for about 2 weeks, sounded good at first but then I started missing the old exhaust as well as hearing the S/C. On long trips it was horrible, I had to crank the radio to not hear the drone. The only problem now is with the stock exhaust back on I have the most annoying whistle at high rpm, I thought it was a leak but the local exhaust shop can't find it. Maybe a cat gone bad or something, who knows.
My honest opinion is to listen to someone else's first and then make up your mind. Later.

ive had strait pipes on my 2000.
I can tell you that they ARE good for about 2 tenths.I lost a little low end but had more top end.
the person who said they lost top end must have been tricked by the sound.
these are pretty loud but im so sick of hearing that hollow sound of flowmasters that everyone has on everything around me,I decided to go with straits.
they sound mean and too loud at first but when you get used to em,they really are not too loud.
On the other hand,I love to have that smooth quiet sound of stock exhaust and the howl of the S/C when I had an intake.
my reccomendation is if you want exhaust that really does give you some ET reduction and is loud,straits ARE the way to go.
**ALSO KEEP THIS IN MIND. ALOT!!! OF PEOPLE LOSE POWER WITH FLOWMASTERS AND MANY OTHER AFTERMARKETS.ITS NOT AN EASY CHORE FINDING A MUFFLER THAT WILL PERFORM EVEN AS GOOD AS OUR STOCK.SOME PEOPLE LOST POWER WHEN DOING EXHAUST.............02
