Talking Hi

Wanted to say hi to everyone. I recently purchased a 2002 Red Lightning. Just registered here and I look forward to chatting with all of you in the future! This seems like a great place for information.

litnfast - Have not gotten into the throttle much yet. How long of a break in period should I give it?

Opinions vary on how long you should break it in for. Some guys baby theirs and others believe you should "drive it like you stole it". Most seem to agree that not holding it at a constant speed for extended periods is the most important thing. Hard to believe but these L's start to wake up at around 3-5K or so. Anyhow enjoy yourself it's a GREAT RIDE

welcome to the boards. tons of info here.

I would take it easy for around 500. After that you can do a few WOT(wide open throttle) runs. just hold off on the burnouts untill around 1k. that what i did at least.

And don't you now need a new engine J15BIG. But I can't say to much I also destroyed an engine. It's nice to see you picked up that that bright red beast. I don't recomend babying it I drove mine fairly agressive but did not thrash on it and it always ran real good. A 13.46 was my best time stock. If you ever need help with your L or parts just look me up. I have some stuff I wont be using now because of the new setup I will be using.
