99 Suspension upgrade

Just installed Eibach coils and Bilsteins on my 99L. Wow, what a difference. For you old timers still running around on the older suspension, do yourself a favor and upgrade. I was also going to install some prothanes but the shop wouldn't let me burn out the old bushings with a torch. FYI, when I unbolted the F/R shock from the bottom, the bottom half of the shock shot out and started spraying oil all over. Be carefull.
Time to change my sig. R/S Dennis

Is it a simple job?? I looked at them today. Looks like 1 upper and 2 lower bolts for the front and 1 upper and lower bolt for the rear. One of the rear upper bolts looked like a small P.I.T.A., but all of the rest looked easy.
It looks as simple as jacking up each corner, replacing them and finding an alignment shop, is it???

Everyone I have talked to says the Bilstein upgrade is well worth the $$ in ride quality AND handling.

It's a pretty easy job. The Bilstiens are a good bang for the buck. But after taking a ride in a QA1 equipped truck, I'll probalby get those shocks next.

The left/rear shock is all sorts of fun if you don't have an air wratchet. You should get some big forearms from the top bolt.
Lastly, the Bilsteins are a significant improvement compared to the old shocks.

Is this a P.I.T.A. without a compressor and air tools???? I'll be doing the Craftsman socket special

just the left rear. It can be done with only hand tools.

Its not that bad on the rear, just put a wrench up there to hold the nut and then turn the shock with your hands to loosen it up. This way your not trying to rachet the nut in a tight space. You should be able to change all for shocks in under an hour.

OK, sounds about right. How critical is the alignment afterwards?? Is it a rush right out and get it done, or within a few days?? These shocks really shouldn't change anything.

What did you do to lower the rear? What was your measurement after the springs were installed around 17"?

If you install shocks only it shouldn't require an alignment.

Not sure who your asking but from the center of the wheel to the fender is 17" in the front and 18.5" in the rear.
I have the FRRP 2" drop shackles in the rear and the Eibach pro sports up front. I also installed cam bolt alignment kits on both sides.

Sounds like a good mod. My question is about how much does all the components run? Have any part numbers? Thanks for the help.
