Is that a "real" lightning?
I get the questions like Sal gets, is that factory, where did you get those wheels, etc. Most people are shocked but usually very gracious when they find out how rare these trucks are. They usually don't believe the numbers and speeds you tell them. That however is a quick remedy as we all know
However, I do need to get some exhaust. I have a friend of mine that says my truck sounds like a sewing machine. He means it jokingly and is absolutely amazed by the truck, but it does make me want to add some sound!!!

I was stoped at a trafic light. I looked to my right and 2 guys in the car were looking the lightning over. Next thing I know the passenger gets out and comes over to the truck and kisses my front quarter panel and gives a thumbs up.
Know tell me if that ain't wierd.

LOL...I haven't had the "real lightning" question, but I always get the "hey, is that a Lightning??' I feel like saying, read the badges, I think it is......
The guy at Home Depot tonight said, "is that a Lightning??" Me, "yup, sure is, great truck" Him, "I've been looking for one to race, but never had the chance, or my engine was blown" Me (snickering to self), "what do you drive?" Him, "A mazda RX-7" Me (trying to flatter him), "those are nice, lots of potential for mods" Him, "where do you race at?" Me, "at the track, only legal place, how about you" As I said this, I was opening door and getting stuff put inside. My PD jacket was on back of passenger seat. Him, started to answer with street names I know well for street racing, but he saw PD jacket, "mostly the track too, sir, have a good night", and walked away.

Most people who know the truck, or anything about them do respect them and like them. But they are very easy to "fake". I have seen a few plain ol F150's with the wheels and badges. The worse was a V-6 XL with the 99/00 wheels and Lightning badges, what an insult.

A policeman huh? I know you have to lay into it a little on the streets slapshots. The cops around here do. The other day i saw one going down the road by my house then slowed down turned on the lights and whipped a u-turn in the middle of the the road and roasted the tires on that cop car for atleast 50 feet. Smoke was rolling of them like i see in some of you lightning owners sigs. I keep reading in here and you all make me want one bad. I have always wanted one anyhow. There are 3 dealers around here one only 5 miles away that have the true blue in stock. I think i may have to go check them out this weekend.
BTW around here they are not rare or hard to find. I see atleast 2 everyday and thats not in the work parking lot. Im surprised there isnt alot of kc lightning owners here.

A policeman huh? I know you shoot your pistol into the air slapshots. My friends around here do. A lightning is beyond my means but, someday I hope to own a pistol. There are 3 pawn dealers around here one only 5 miles away that have the true blued with diamond stock. I think I may have to go check them this weekend after they close.
I can relate to you guys. Its not so much "is that a real harley?" Its more the people that come up and say "where did you get those rims" or exhaust, or how much did you lower that?" Then i tell them it came that way, and some of them find it hard to believe it came with stock 20's and lowered. Other people yell from across the parking lot nice truck
But the people who bother me are the ones who stand back and talk with their friends saying that we put the harley emblems on and the rims. But then i get the satisfaction of going over and tellin them that i overheard them and that they're wrong. Most of the time they believe me, but the ones who don't are usually the jealous ones
. Anyway, you L guys have some sweet trucks, I wanna get a white one someday, and if someone ever came over to kiss my truck i'd either stomp on it and run over some toes, or tell em to get away from the truck, -finger prints are bad enough

lol Ok Raoul. I get it. How did you know ide be looken after they close? No really if i can get financed then mayby. I tried the peaplefirst.com place and they would only give me 20,000. Not really enough for the truck i want. I figure if anyone can find me a lender then it would be the dealer. So well see.
I had a guy come up next to me at a light (in like a '97 F150 Scab) and ask me if my truck was "a Lightning or something". I said "no, no, it's not a Lightning. (If you look at my truck) you can tell this guy didn't really know what a Lightning is.
Some people might not be thinking it's a fake. They just might not have a clue!
