Camaro SS ?

I was at a light the other day behind another car with the right lane being free. Along pulled up a new black Camaro SS. He pulled up next to me and nodded but I was behind another car so there nothing I could really do. When the light turned green, he came out the box hard, all traction and when he dumped it into second he gave a nice long bark and he was gone. I looked at their website and it said they were 325 HP but gave no 0-60 or
1\4 stats. I dont think my stock would of been able to compete. Any comments on this?

Last year I drove a Huger Orange Z28 to the track. It was totally stock and a 6-speed. I made 3 passes and the best was a 13.32 @ 105.

There are some guys here with SS running 13.0's or in the high 12's stock....

Sorry man but if your stock, you would have to catch a bad driver to beat one.....

I had a Z28. A stock Camaro SS, or WS6 will eat a stock Lightning. Brand loyalty aside... this is the truth.
A WS6 can run to 60 in just over 5 flat. I don't have 1/4 mile stats, but trust me, they're wicked fast. You have to have something extra under your hood to beat a stock one. If they're modded, watch out.

I don't know if I would say "eat" a L, but I would say stock for stock the LS1 is faster 75% of the time.

My friend has an '01 SS auto. We raced a few times and I beat him zero to about 80 or 90 mph every time. We did a 60mph to 100mph and he had a slight, half car-length advantage. He is totally stock, see my sig for my mods. Stock vs stock I think the SS would win everytime.

There are guys here that will tell you a stock Pinto will blow the doors off of a 'Vette just to be facetious. For some, brand loyalty is nothing short of a religion. Let it go.

You're asking a bunch of Ford Lightning owners (who never, EVER lose races ) about a GM car?.....Okay, I can see this post going to ***** in a hurry.

However BEFORE it turns into a mudslinging contest....I'll add my .02 (Note: See sig for my qualifications on this matter). A stock LS1 SS/Z28/Trans-am/WS-6 with a remotely competent driver will walk a stock lightning. If you have a hard time accepting this....Please don't flame me....Flame the Laws of physics.

Lighting HP: 325-335 rwhp
Lightning Weight: 4600 lbs

LS1 HP: 300-310 rwhp ( 2001-02's are making 315-320 rwhp....Yes, REAR WHEEL HP....forget what you read in magazines)
LS1 weight: 3500

LS1 F-bodies weigh over 1000 lbs less, but only produce 20 hp less. Although L's have the gearing advantage from the factory (3.55/3.73 vs 3.23/3.42)....the weight to HP ratio definitely gives the LS1 a distinct over-all advantage (not to mention the Aerodynamic advantage at high speeds).

I think that many L owners confuse the weakling LT1 with the more Potent LS1 F-body, thus having a false sense of accomplishment when they mistakenly beat an LT1 in a race.

I'm not saying that a stock L has never beat a stock LS1....I just don't think that it happens as often as this board will lead you to believe. If there are any doubters in the VA/DC/MD area....I know LOTS of Stock LS1's that will be more than happy to race some stock L's. The outcome will surprise many of you.

BTW...0-60 is around 5.1 or so. (again....nevermind what the Magazines say)

The SS, which I had a '99, also has an advantage in torque per lb. of car to move. Just wanted to get this out there before the "torque makes all the difference" guys chime in.

I thought the WS6's didnt have much of any HP increase, just a 6 speed and upgraded suspension?

If you are talking about my post Ebbsnflows I just stated what i did and i also said the kid could not drive and that the car had 65K miles on it and probably hard ones at that. My truck is not stock but even if it was i still would have beat the SS i raced. I'm not saying it would beat all SS's. It's just like our trucks some of them have more ***** than others and some of them have less ***** than others. I was just trying to make a point that not all SS's would beat an L. I am not bias because i own a L, i know this because i have owned many different types and makes of cars. I have driven SS camaros old and new, Corvettes Old and new. So i have a pretty good idea of what i can hang with or beat.

All i know is that i saw a brand new "STOCK" Firehawk, whip the living ***** out of my friends Automatic SS. So much for chevy, always getting beat by its cousin. Oh, i can take this SS in my lightning all the way till about 100 mph, after that who cares? His SS, is modded, not heavily, but it is. I would be afraid of the new HAWK!!
